Capcom Fighting Collection 2 promises to be an exciting addition to the fighting game landscape, so anyone looking to get their hands on it will want to know when it’s coming out and how to play. Like the previous Capcom Fighting Collection, this compilation won’t just feature some old fighting games, but will also online play for them. This is also the first time players will get a re-release of Capcom vs. SNK: Millennium Fight 2000 and Capcom vs. SNK 2.

The Capcom Fighting Collection 2 isn’t coming too long after the somewhat stellar Street Fighter 6 only a couple of years old at this point, it’s unlikely a new entry will be coming anytime soon, so it’s nice that Capcom is keeping more releases coming in the meantime.

When Capcom Fighting Collection 2 Will Release In 2025

May 16, 2025

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 will be released on May 16, 2025. The game will be released on the same day both digitally and physically, though digital copies will likely be able to be played earlier, since there will be no concern about waiting for stores to open or mail to be delivered. Both versions of the game are currently available for pre-order; physical copies can be pre-ordered at Best Buy, GameStop, Target, Amazon, and Walmart. Digital versions can be pre-ordered through Steam or any of the digital stores for the respective consoles the game is on.

Check with your local game shop to see if they have pre-orders available, too.

Although not currently available for pre-order, there will also be an option to buy a Capcom Fighting Collection 1 & 2 Bundle. As of now, there is also no price listed for the bundle on Capcom’s website, so it’s unclear if this will offer any sort of discount on the two games, or if it is simply a convenient way to pick up both. The bundle is a digital-only version of the game.

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 Platforms & Price

Capcom Fighting Collection 2 Costs $39.99

The Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is being released for the previous generations of consoles - PS4 and Xbox One - as well as PC and the Nintendo Switch. Although both the Xbox and PlayStation stores make it clear that these games can be played on an Xbox Series X/S or PS5 respectively through backward compatibility, there is not a dedicated current-gen version of the game. The PS5 store also says that some features from the PS4 version may not be available when playing on a PS5, but this is part of a generic disclaimer and doesn’t actually point to any specific features.

Although available for the Xbox One, the only consoles that are getting a physical release of the game are the Nintendo Switch and PS4. Some physical copies of the game come with an original 48-page comic book based on the Capcom vs. SNK games, though these are only available in a limited number of games. This comic will be small enough to fit inside the game case, so it will not be a full-sized book.

Every version of Capcom Fighting Collection 2 costs $39.99. This is the same price as the previous Capcom Fighting Collection and $10 cheaper than the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection. Prices on the bundle will likely be revealed once it is available for purchase or pre-order.

Pre-Ordering The Game Unlocks In-Game Songs

The only pre-order bonus consistent across every version of Capcom Fighting Collection 2 is rearranged versions of two in-game songs: “Soy Sauce for Geese” and “Rival Schools Medley” by CAP-JAMS. These songs will be available to listen to in the game’s Museum menu. It is unclear if these songs can be unlocked through other means in the game or if pre-ordering the game is the only way to get them. While this is a somewhat underwhelming pre-order bonus, it’s at least nice to know players shouldn’t feel pressured to pay for the game early and can wait for reviews.

The other pre-order bonus is the comic book, which is only available in some of the physical copies of the game. As described by the product listing, it would seem that a copy of the book isn’t guaranteed to everyone who pre-orders the game, as supplies could run out based on the number of pre-orders. That said, pre-ordering Capcom Fighting Collection 2 may be necessary to get a copy of the comic, as it’s unclear how limited the supplies of the books are and how many copies will be allocated to any given store.
