The mobile version of Call of Duty: Warzone will be officially delisted from app stores by Monday. As a result, Warzone Mobile will be removed from mobile storefronts on iOS and Android devices by Monday, May 19.

CoD: Warzone Just Wasn't Clicking For Mobile Fans

Call Of Duty's Other Mobile Title Is Still Available

Three operators in Call of Duty Warzone.

There are plenty of multiplayer shooters on PC and consoles, but to make a game like Call of Duty: Warzone work well on the smaller screens of mobile devices takes a lot more work. It seems that in this case, there just wasn't enough overlap between Warzone players and mobile gamers to make full-scale for the mobile version worthwhile.

In fact, judging from the comments on the announcement, many CoD fans weren't even aware that there was a mobile version of Call of Duty: Warzone, with news of its cancellation coming as even more of a surprise. The game also had some general downfalls, struggling with battery drain issues and aggressive monetization practices that doomed the title before it got a chance to get off the ground.

That said, the Call of Duty: Mobile app remains unaffected, and Activision is encouraging Warzone fans to switch over to that mobile experience instead. Activision acknowledges that news of Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile shutting down "may be disappointing," but ultimately, this may be the best move for the studio.
