Editor’s Note: A lawsuit has been filed against Activision Blizzard by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, which alleges the company has engaged in abuse, discrimination, and retaliation against its female employees. The devs of Call of Duty: Warzone have some strong feelings about the state of the game and they're not very positive. Although Warzone is a massive success, players have grown increasingly upset with the game with every update. Even though issues are getting fixed, it feels like more significant ones pop up in their place. Bugs, cheaters, balancing issues, and more all impact the game and as Activision attempts to integrate other Call of Duty titles into Warzone, it continues to get worse.

With that said, Infinity Ward confirmed Warzone 2 will be launching sometime in the near future. It will be built on an all-new engine with Modern Warfare II as its foundation. Infinity Ward appears to be developing the new version of the battle royale with long-term sustainability in mind, but it's unclear if the developer will make more Warzone sequels in the future. Either way, the game seems to be a direct answer to players' issues with the game.

Players aren't the only ones unhappy with Warzone, however. During a press event (via Warzone 2 is being built as a result of the first game's bloating, but Infinity Ward is committed to preparing the first title.

While developers usually apologize for messy launches or oppressive bugs, it's rare to see them be so candid. With the team echoing the community's harsh, but equally fair feelings about the massive free-to-play title, it feels like players are being heard. Only time will tell if Infinity Ward can fix the current Warzone and effectively apply its learned lessons to its sequel, but at least the team understands the player base's frustrations.

Although it doesn't have a release date, the current plan is to release Warzone 2 as part of Modern Warfare II. It's possible it will just be given to everyone who owns the new entry, but not release day and date with its counterpart. Warzone was released roughly five months after Modern Warfare came out, so a similar staggered launch can likely be expected to allow the teams to appropriately focus their efforts. The first game should serve as an effective trial run and provide ample information for the sequel.
