The new trailer for things that Warzone’s Caldera Island needs to change.
The location and setting of Call of Duty: Warzone’s main playlist isn’t the only major element of the popular battle royale that has changed since the release of Vanguard. The classic Rebirth Island map, which was originally released near the end of 2020 as part of Season 1 of Black Ops Cold War, finally got a significant update in Season 2 of Warzone Pacific. Dubbed Rebirth Island Reinforced, the update gave Warzone’s smaller battle royale map a much-needed facelift, which changed several of its POIs while also adding completely new ones. The update also introduced improved lighting across the entirety of the map. Interestingly, Season 2 of Warzone also saw the surprising addition of Snoop Dogg to Call of Duty.
The new Season 3 “Classified Arms” cinematic trailer was recently released on the official Call of Duty YouTube channel. The new trailer continues the narrative of Warzone Season 2, wherein the Nazis have begun releasing Nebula V gas around the world, including Caldera Island. A team of new operators intercept a Nazi convoy transporting an unknown package, revealed to include a device that can be heard receiving an ominous but distorted audio signal that includes what sounds like Godzilla’s roar. The COD Twitter also shared a clip of the audio, which Twitter HeckingBrandon checked on Audacity’s spectrogram and found the words “monsters are real.” Twitter BeePlayingGames also compared the audio to the Orca sound from 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The trailer and tweets can be found below:
While the new trailer's audio clip doesn’t completely confirm that the iconic monster will be coming to the game, it does corroborate previous rumors that Godzilla and King Kong are coming to COD. Thankfully, the trailer also revealed that Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone Pacific Season 3 will be launching on April 27, 2022. So, players won’t have to wait too long to find out what’s in store for the game’s next season of content.
If Godzilla (and potentially King Kong) does end up coming to Call of Duty, it will be a large departure from the series’ usual collaborations that involve fictional human characters. It’ll certainly be interesting to see how the developers end up presenting the would-be content in the game. Now, there are only a couple of short weeks remaining before players should find out for sure if Godzilla will arrive or not.
Call of Duty: Warzone and Vanguard are available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
