Editor’s Note: A lawsuit has been filed against Activision Blizzard by the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing, which alleges the company has engaged in abuse, discrimination, and retaliation against its female employees. Activision Blizzard has denied the allegations. Instagram posts show that Activision Blizzard recently showed off Infinity Ward confirmed Modern Warfare 2 as its next Call of Duty title this past February. Studio Co-Head Pat Kelly also revealed that the sequel will run on a brand-new game engine, technology the team began working on an undisclosed number of years ago. That same engine will also power the next COD: Warzone experience from Infinity Ward.

Information about the next Modern Warfare entry remains scarce for the time being. However, Activision Blizzard's Q1 2022 financial report did tease that the sequel to the 2019 Call of Duty installment will mark the "most advanced experience" in the franchise to date. Of course, players will have to decide that much for themselves when the new Infinity Ward title hits stores sometime later this year on consoles and PC.

There's nothing to glean from either Gardner's public post or private message to FaZe Blaze. Even the photo that accompanies the cornerback's Instagram story only features the standard Call of Duty logo flashing on a TV screen. Still, after the shortcomings of COD: Vanguard last year, some fans may be pleased to learn that those who've seen the new game early think it will ultimately turn out fine.

Outside of discussing the sequel in broader , neither Activision Blizzard nor Infinity Ward has formally announced Modern Warfare 2 in the traditional sense. Uncorroborated rumors from a Call of Duty leaker, Twitter TheGhostOfHope, suggests official details could service by the end of next month. According to the leak in question, Activision plans to fully unveil the new Modern Warfare installment no later than May 30. The publisher itself has yet to confirm as much, so it's best to take such information with a grain of salt.
