Many episodes of the hit supernatural drama series Sarah Michelle Gellar), a teenaged Vampire Slayer. At first, Buffy wants to live. Normal life, but over the course of the show she accepts her destiny.

The WB TV Network show, which was based on the 1992 movie of the same name, was critically acclaimed, and eventually, Gellar was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a TV Series Drama for her portrayal of Buffy. The series also was nominated multiple times for Television Critics Association Awards, winning the Heritage Award in 2003.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is set in the fictional California town of Sunnydale. Most of the show was shot on location in Los Angeles and other areas of Southern California. The series was reportedly dependent on location shooting, as the production budget only allowed for a few permanent sets to be crafted. Some of those permanent sets included the high school's interior, the Summers house, the Master's underground lair, Angel's mansion, and  Giles' apartment, among others.

Sunnydale High

The exterior scenes for Sunnydale High were shot at Torrance High School, at 220 West Carson Street in Torrance, California. This was also the high school used for Beverly Hills, 90210. Some other high school scenes, though, were shot elsewhere, such as scenes at the swimming pool in the second season's twentieth episode, "Go Fish," which were shot at the University of Southern California's physical education building. And scenes at the football stadium in season 2's second episode, "Some Assembly Required," were filmed at the West High School in Torrance. What's more, scenes at the rebuilt school—featured in the season 7 premiere "Lessons" and the series finale "Chosen"—were formed at California State University in Northridge (CSUN).

The Bronze

Scenes that took place at The Bronze, Sunnydale's nightclub, were filmed at the show's studios, but exterior shots were of a warehouse in Santa Monica, California. The Bronze encomes a stage for live music, a dance floor, a pool table, a balcony, and a bar.

The Cemetery

A makeshift cemetery was built in the parking lot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer's studios in Santa Monica, California. Many of the cemetery scenes, though, were filmed at the Angelus-Rosedale Cemetery at 1831 West Washington Boulevard in Los Angeles.

Sunnydale University

The exterior shots of Sunnydale University were filmed at the Royce Hall of the University of California at Los Angeles campus in Westwood, Los Angeles. Additionally, many episodes that take place at the college were filmed at the Oviatt Library at CSUN and the CF Braun Business Park at 1000 South Fremont Street in Alhambra, California. The shots of the Delta Zeta Kappa fraternity house were actually of the Wattles Mansion, a historic house, and park in Hollywood, and the real location used for the Alpha Delta fraternity house, meanwhile, was a house in the Country Club Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.

Downtown Sunnydale

Sunnydale Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Scenes that take place in Downtown Sunnydale were filmed mostly in the downtown area of Santa Monica. Santa Monica's 3rd Street Promenade, in particular, stood in as the main street of Sunnydale in several episodes. By Season 3, though, a "Main Street" set was constructed on the show's backlot.

The Summers House

Exterior shots of the Summers house, which in Sunnydale is located at 1630 Revello Drive, were filmed at 1313 Cota Avenue in Torrance - three blocks away from Torrance High School.

Glorificus's Mansion

The exterior shots of Glorificus's mansion were actually of Castle Green Apartments, located at 99 Raymond Avenue in Pasadena.

Crawford Street Mansion

The shots outside and inside of Crawford Street mansion - Angel's home - were filmed at the Ennis-Brown house - designed by famed architect Frank Lloyd Wright - which is located at 2607 Glendower Avenue in Griffith Park.

Sunnydale Natural History Museum

In two episodes - the second season's fourth episode "Inca Mummy Girl" and the sixth season's ninth episode "Smashed" - Buffy finds herself at the Sunnydale Natural History Museum. The scenes at the museum were filmed at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, which sits at 900 Exposition Boulevard.

Sunnydale Zoo

The Sunnydale Zoo in Buffy, the Vampire Slayer.

Another two episodes—the first season's sixth episode, "The Pack," and fifth season's eighth episode, "Shadow"—takes place at the Sunnydale Zoo. The scenes at the zoo were filmed at the Santa Ana Zoo at Prentice Park in Santa Ana, California.

Sunnydale City Hall

The few appearances of Kingman's Bluff—a cliff in Sunnydale that overlooks the ocean and the town—were filmed at the Angels Gate Park at 3601 Gaffey Street in San Pedro, California.

Recreation Center

The recreation center is featured in five episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Scenes that took place here were filmed at the Stoner Recreation Center, located at the intersection of Westgate Avenue and Mission Avenue in Los Angeles.

Initiative Facilities

Scenes that take place at the initiative facilities, featured in the fourth season's seventh and 21st episodes, "The Initiative " and "Primeval," were filmed at Skunk Works, a facility that builds aircraft designs, in Palmdale, California. Of course, there are many other locations that episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer were filmed at, including theme parks, churches, salons, parks, trains stations, deserts, ports, malls, streets, houses, and apartment complexes across Southern California.
