The season finale of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law introduces the child of one of the original Avengers, Hulk's son Skaar, but Bruce Banner said in Avengers: Age of Ultron that he can't have kids. It's a very interesting twist to the story of Bruce's green alter-ego in the MCU, and the whole situation makes Bruce's statement from earlier appear false. Unless Bruce was only referring to himself when telling Natasha Romanoff that he can't have kids and live a normal life, and not that the Hulk couldn't.
The Hulk having a son is a game changer moving forward in the MCU's Multiverse Saga, as Skaar's arrival could set up a World War Hulk movie and he might be a potential member of an MCU Young Avengers team. Regardless of this exciting reveal, it still brings on the question as to how the Hulk can have a kid, but Bruce Banner can't. If there is any definitive answer to that, it has to revolve around the effects of Bruce's gamma radiation.
Bruce Can't Have Kids, But Maybe Hulk Can
It's no secret that Bruce Banner became the Hulk because of a gamma radiation treatment he tested on himself earlier on in his career as a scientist. The soft-spoken scientist's blood is infused with gamma radiation, allowing him to transform between being a human and being a ferocious green machine. However, it's possible that the gamma radiation in his blood also prevents him from being able to have a child with someone. Another thing to note is that when Bruce Banner isn't the Hulk, rapid increases in heart rate can cause him to turn into the Hulk, so that might be a problem for whoever he's trying to have a baby with. Either way, Bruce Banner has a lot of obstacles in front of him that block him from having a child.
On the other hand, it's very possible that the Hulk can have kids. Bruce was in Hulk form for the period of time that he is on Sakaar, two full years in Earth time, so as long as the woman he's smitten with is able to take on the strength of the Hulk, it's possible that his gamma radiation doesn't have a negative effect on his ability to have kids for his green alter-ego. Taking into She-Hulk it is likely that the Hulk was able to find a non-human companion and have kids as they have similar physical attributes that are distinctly different from humans.
Who Is Skaar's Mother In The MCU?
Skaar's mother isn't seen in the She-Hulk finale, but Marvel Comics points toward a character by the name of Caiera the Oldstrong being his mother. Caiera's home world is Sakaar in the comics, and there she meets the Hulk, and the two end up getting married. Caiera has not been mentioned in the MCU yet, and it's unknown whether she will make an appearance, let alone be the mother of Skaar. But, Marvel Studios always has tricks up its sleeves as seen in the She-Hulk finale, so there is a chance that an entirely different character will appear as Hulk's lover and Skaar's mom in the MCU. Though, Caiera definitely makes the most sense. Despite Bruce Banner's statements in the second Avengers film, it appears as though he can have kids, or at least his alter-ego Hulk can. It is highly likely that more will be revealed about Skaar and his origins as the MCU moves into Phases 5 & 6.
