While The Boys season 4 has two major villains, it already seems pretty obvious which one of them will be killed off in the show’s next outing. When The Boys debuted in 2019, the series seemed impossible to predict. Incredibly gory and cynical, the pitch-black satire of superhero movies killed off countless characters who seemed destined to be major players throughout The Boys seasons 1 and 2. However, thanks to its likable cast, by the time The Boys season 3 arrived, the show had a problem that no amount of inventive gore could solve.

The main characters of The Boys are now well-established and, in many cases, well-liked, which makes it much harder for the series to pull off its trademark shocking sudden deaths. From The Boys hero Mother’s Milk to the monstrous villain Homelander, most of the surviving cast are vital to the overarching story of the series. This means that The Boys season 4 abruptly killing off major characters would no longer be effective and could annoy viewers who have gotten invested in the show’s main cast. This makes it unfortunately easy to guess where the story of The Boys season 4 is likely heading.

Why Neuman's Death Feels Predictable For The Boys Season 4

Annoyingly, since Homelander can’t die without The Boys ending, it seems pretty obvious that Victoria Neuman will be killed in season 4. The closing scenes of The Boys season 3 posited Neuman as a major season 4 villain. This was confirmed with Butcher stating that the titular vigilante group would stop at nothing to take her down upon seeing her announce her run for the vice presidency.

The same scene saw Homelander turn Ryan toward the dark side, implying that Neuman and Homelander will be season 4’s major antagonists. However, this doesn’t work since Homelander’s defeat would end Butcher’s character arc. As such, it seems inevitable that Neuman will be the one to die.

Victoria Neuman’s The Boys Season 4 Story Can Still Surprise

The Boys could find a way to work with Victoria Neuman (or at least deprive her of her secret superpowers) without killing her, thus avoiding a predictable ending for The Boys season 4. This could be a good thing since Neuman’s complicated allegiances arguably make her a useful tool against Homelander. Not only that but, since earlier major villains in the series (such as season 3’s villain Soldier Boy) survived their encounters with the Boys, it seems possible that someone as powerful as Neuman could escape their clutches. Meanwhile, the fact that Hughie recently worked with Neuman gives the Boys a connection to her.

It is hard to see how The Boys season 4 will avoid killing off Neuman since the series needs to give its season 4 story some stakes. However, Stan Edgar remains alive and is now openly in conflict with both Neuman and Homelander, meaning The Boys season 4 still has another major canon villain the show could kill off. Not only that but The Boys season 4 could also see Neuman switch sides and work with the Boys, a twist that would be a lot more shocking and unpredictable than her gruesome death. Only time will tell what story The Boys season 4 will go with, but it will be increasingly tough for the comic adaptation to surprise viewers.
