The new villains, the self-aware Divine Trees, were completely shrouded in mystery, but a new detail enlightened fans a bit more, although it brought about even more questions.

Manga of Boruto grabbing a Thorn Soul Bulb

After blowing Hidari to bits save for his face, Hidari was about to escape through a Clawmark but Kawaki swooped in, shrinking his escape route and finishing him off. What was left was something resembling a fruit, a Thorn Soul Bulb.

The Weakness of the Divine Trees Has Been Exposed

The Thorn Soul Bulb Can Be the Key To Defeating These Enemies

Manga of Boruto speaking to Kashin Koji remotely

The Thorn Soul Bulb formed after Hidari was defeated and blown to bits, which means that it can only be obtained with the "death" of a Divine Tree. Furthermore, Boruto said it was necessary to bring Sasuke back and free him from the tree he is currently trapped in, apparently dead. How the Thorn Soul Bulb will be used to release the captive is still unknown, and it seems Boruto does not know about it either.

Interestingly, after getting hold of the Bulb, Boruto asks Kashin Koji if it is indeed what they were looking for, and Kashin Koji confirms it, saying it is exactly like the one he saw before. This could mean that Kashin Koji had already encountered a self-aware Divine Tree before, and it was defeated, raising even more questions about the time skip and what Jiraiya's clone was up to in the 3 years.

Unfortunately, Jura retrieved the Thorn Soul Bulb of his companion before Boruto could secure it. Juram who was until that moment set on consuming Naruto and then Himawari, seems to have now included Boruto on his hit list after finding out he knew about the Thorn Soul Bulb.

This is a further hint of the importance of this revelation for the series' new villains, which means that cracking this mystery will be key in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex going forward, and will be yet another thing fans can look forward to finding out.
