Warning: SPOILERS for chapter #77 of Boruto.

the dangerous guest of Konoha, Daemon, brings up the topic of Himawari's latent abilities in the manga, while previously it had been mostly a prerogative of the Boruto anime.

As the daughter of Naruto Uzumaki and Hinata Hyuga, Himawari inherited the genes of two of the strongest shinobi bloodlines, but she has barely begun training as a Kunoichi in the Ninja Academy. Despite that, Himawari has already awakened her Byakugan, the hereditary Dojutsu (Eye Technique) of the Hyuga clan, something that her big brother Boruto is still unable to do. The Boruto anime also showed Himawari possessing incredible physical prowess and chakra, to the point that she can even knock out her father when angry. This latent power still remains unexplained, but recent developments in the manga hint that the truth about Himawari's abilities will soon be revealed.

Daemon and Himawari in Boruto having a conversation when Daemon senses an intensity coming from Himawari.

Chapter #77 has been a momentous one for Boruto. Kawaki decides to eliminate Boruto to get rid of the spirit of Momoshiki Otsutsuki inside him, in his obsession with protecting his savior Naruto. Meanwhile, Code is ready to attack Konoha with his army of Ten-Tails monsters and trigger the Fifth Shinobi World War. Eida and Daemon are still guests of the Leaf Village, and Boruto has to watch over them while they go shopping. Suddenly, Daemon feels a powerful presence nearby and runs toward it, finding out that it's actually Himawari. Daemon attacks the girl but she doesn't react, proving that her powers are still unconscious.

Himawari has not been featured much in the manga, while the anime gave her a lot more attention through its many filler arcs. Daemon's reaction thus may come as a surprise to manga-only readers, but it should be ed that the meeting of the Uzumaki and Hyuga families is a unique occurrence that recreates the bloodline of Kaguya Otsutsuki, the alien goddess who brought chakra to the world. The Uzumaki are descendants of Hagoromo (the Sage of the Six Paths) while the Hyuga come from the line of his brother Hamura, Kaguya's two sons. It's possible, then, that a descendant of both brothers could awaken the true power of the Byakugan, something that only pure-blooded Otsutsuki have displayed until now. The Hyuga's Byakugan, in fact, derives from the Otsutsuki's (specifically from Hamura), but it's a diluted and less powerful version of the ability.

If Himawari is really awakening the true powers of an Otsutsuki, it makes sense for Daemon to feel that. It was recently explained that Daemon and Eida's unique abilities have been manufactured by Amado from Otsutsuki's original powers, so they could share a connection with Himawari. Regardless of what the true source of the girl's powers is, it's great to see the Boruto manga finally put the spotlight on Himawari, who has become a fan-favorite character through her appearances in the anime.
