Here's how to play video game sequel Half-Life series, such as the fan favorite expansion episode Half-Life: Opposing Force or the well-received PlayStation 2 port of the original game. In later years they developed the WW2 series Brothers In Arms, but they've run into controversy with a few of their titles. One of the most famous would be Duke Nukem Forever, which was a sequel that had been in development hell for over a decade.
Gearbox picked up Duke Nukem Forever from original developers 3D Realms, but the final version released in 2011 proved to be a janky and dated first-person shooter that sullied the reputation of the franchise. Gearbox's most controversial title remains Aliens: Colonial Marines, however, which also spent many years in development and was eagerly awaited by the fanbase. Early footage showed a gorgeous looking FPS dripping with atmosphere and details, only for the resulting 2013 title to barely resemble it. Instead, it was a generic shooter lacking in polish with a poorly constructed "canon" storyline.
Gearbox's Tales From The Borderlands are well worth playing. Borderlands 3 arrived in 2019 to great reviews and like the first two entries, it can be played in offline mode.
In an era moving closer and closer towards always online games, the ability to play a high-profile shooter like Borderlands 3 free of an internet connection is becoming something of a rarity. For those with a weak internet connection or just gamers who prefer to play solo, Borderlines 3 offline mode is a valid option. For console versions like PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, it's simple as loading the game up without being connected to the internet or switching to offline in the settings.
For playing Borderlands 3 in Epic Games or on Steam, the game can simply be played in offline mode after their respective launchers start. Of course, the game is somewhat designed around online and multiplayer elements - which also includes ing updates, patches or hotfixes - there's plenty of fun to be had with the game playing it in offline mode too. It's unknown when Borderlands 4 will arrive but considering there's still plenty of life left in the third game, it will likely be at least a few years down the road.
