Tite Kubo’s world-famous series, Bleach, is known for being one of the most successful manga series of all time. Fans have praised the author for his incredible worldbuilding, exciting battles, and endearing cast. While the power level of the series is significantly lower than that of other popular Shōnen Jump publications, Bleach still has some exceedingly strong individuals.

Still, against all odds, Kubo created a being who arguably puts all other villains in the magazine to shame, as his power goes beyond human imagination: Yhwach. This imposing antagonist, hailed as the strongest character in the series, has abilities that make it almost impossible to defeat him. Moreover, despite not being as mighty as other Shōnen Jump villains, his powers can completely disable any opponent he might face.

Yhwach Is Virtually Invincible

His Special Abilities As A Quincy Are Beyond Broken

Yhwach, also known as the Progenitor of Quincy, is the strongest and final foe of the Bleach series, acting as the major antagonist of the Thousand-Year Blood War arc. He is a cruel and manipulative man who wishes to achieve immortality by breaking the cycle of life and death and merging the spiritual and mortal worlds. He was a skilled warrior, capable of fighting against powerhouses such as Ichigo without breaking a sweat. Yhwach could also absorb power from the surrounding Quincy by removing their abilities, giving him a near-endless source of power.

Nonetheless, his most fearsome ability is one unique to him, due to his nature as a Quincy, known as the Almighty. This terrifying power allowed the villain the opportunity to see into the future and select the timeline that would benefit him the most. For example, if an opponent had found an opening in his defenses and was seconds away from killing him, Yhwach could switch the timeline to one where he could avoid the attack without receiving harm. This ability also granted him information about any plan or surprise attack, giving him time to prepare for any event.

Most impressive of all, the Almighty also gave Yhwach power over destiny itself, as he could also rewrite any future he did not want. By doing this, the man was able to revive himself seconds after Ichigo managed to kill him for the first time, by creating a timeline in which he never perished. This power made the villain virtually invincible, as no attack could prevent him from returning to life if he so desired. Fans’ opinions on the character are divided, as his powers caused many issues in the Thousand-Year Blood War arc of the original manga.

Yhwach Could Defeat Almost All Shōnen Jump’s Villains

His Powers Over Reality Could Erase Any of His Enemies

The Shōnen Jump magazine is famous for having some of the most popular and fascinating manga ever created. Throughout the years, the publication have introduced some of the most powerful anime villains in existence. From the terrifying Frieza to the cunning Madara, Shōnen Jump has no shortage of fearsome antagonists. Still, despite how powerful these characters are, Yhwach could still defeat them in just a few seconds thanks to his overpowered abilities. The nature of the Almighty skill makes it so that the leader of the Quincy cannot be killed, even by stronger and faster opponents.

Furthermore, if Yhwach was truly having a problem defeating his opponents, he could absorb them by simply touching them, gaining their abilities and energy in the process. While it is true that Ichigo’s final enemy is several times weaker in of physical power than other villains, such as the strongest antagonists created by Akira Toriyama, his other powers make him almost invulnerable to damage. Lamentably, there is not much that any of Shōnen Jump’s imposing evildoers could attempt to kill or even incapacitate Yhwach during combat.

Yhwach’s Defeat Is Still Controversial

The Villain Should Not Have Been So Easily Defeated

Ichigo delivers the final blow to Yhwach, who has parting words for Ichigo.

When the time came for Yhwach to be defeated by the heroes of the Bleach manga, many fans believe the author saw how much of a problem his villain’s powers had become. The final antagonist was so powerful that Ichigo’s best attacks would do nothing to him. As such, the manga explained that Yhwach’s powers could be temporarily disabled by shooting at him with an arrow made from a special silver found in the hearts of Quincy after death. By combining this rare metal with Aizen’s mental manipulation, Ichigo was given the perfect opportunity to kill his opponent.

Years after this MacGuffin took place, readers are still displeased with the sudden death of the franchise’s strongest character. Many fans argue that Yhwach should have been able to predict this outcome, as the Almighty allowed him to see this future. The villain was defeated in such an anticlimactic manner that destroyed his body, a decision that readers are still trying to come to with. Even then, there is no doubt that Bleach’s mightiest villain could easily defeat most of Shōnen Jump’s heroes and villains if he wished to do so.
