Blasphemous is the story of suffering, devastation, and punishment. The world is permanently shattered due to the actions of those that came before, and the player must navigate through this wasteland of despair. There are few places of safety and rest within this world. Most respite must be paid for in one way or another.

The Order of the True Shrine Church is a place where players can make donations that will aid them in their journey in the long run. Alms and their respective rewards aren’t heavily explained within the game. This, like many of Blasphemous’ other mechanics, can be difficult to grasp for new players to the game and to the Souls-like Genre. Here’s everything you need to know about giving Alms to the church in Blasphemous.

The Order of the True Shrine Church is located in Albero. Albero is located near Cystodia and is among the only places where players can find the Kissers of Wounds. Kissers of Wounds are a group of healers and holy men who tend to the sick and destitute. They are beholden to The Miracle and are ed by the Order of the True Shrine as protectors of the citizens of the town. Players can tell this town apart from others by the presence of numerous ill and distraught people lining the streets.

As of the Stir of Dawn DLC, the True Shrine Church is open to the public. This will occur only after the player has defeated either Ten Piedad, Our Lady of the Charred Visage or Tres Angustias in one on one combat. These boss fights are all extremely tricky but are rewarding in the end. When players enter the church, they will need to head to the back and interact with the shrine.

Players are encouraged to give alms to the shrine in the True Shrine Church. Alms are given in the form of Tears of Atonement, which are granted to the player for every successful enemy defeated. Donating your hard-earned Tears isn’t easy, but the rewards are plentiful. The Church itself will begin to steadily become more lavish as players make donations. Likewise, visitors will begin to use the church for prayers once again as the player continues to spruce up the place. The more the player helps out, the more the church will flourish.

Additionally, players will begin to receive periodic rewards for helping out the church. At 2,000 tears, the Confessor option will be opened within the alms box. This will allow players to remove their guilt from the world. This can be helpful to players who are attempting to get the special ending, which requires them to destroy the Confessor Statues.

At 10,000 Tears, players will find the Rosary of Appreciation on the ground. This item will increase the players durability when they run out of flasks during a fight. At 20,000 Tears, players will be granted the ability to teleport between Prie Dieu. The altar will also be noticeably redesigned after this point. 50,000 Tears will grant the player use of the Cloistered Ruby within their rosary. Finally, at 100,000 Tears, players will be granted a brand-new skin for the player character.
