Season 3 of The Blacklist ended on a major cliffhanger as Liz was revealed to be alive and immediately put into danger when she was abducted for unknown reasons. This left fans excitedly awaiting the season 4 premiere as they longed for answers.

Season 4 did not disappoint, introducing thrilling storylines centered on Elizabeth, Tom, and Kaplan's pasts. This season turned out to be one of the most well-received seasons of The Blacklist. With Kirk holding Agnus captive, Reddington, Tom, and Liz are desperate to apprehend him. In an attempt to track him down, the task force begins to hunt an eco-terrorist known as Gaia.

But tensions run high in the task force as the agents deal with Liz's betrayal. Meanwhile, Mr. Kaplan is on the mend due to help from the hunter but finds that she is being kept as a prisoner.

After Reddington's failed assassination on Mr. Kaplan, she became a formidable opponent.

In this episode, Kaplan begins to severely impact Reddington's operation as she clears out his bank s and distances him from his associates. Agent Gale continues to try to build a case against Reddington for his crimes.

Aram is forced to reflect on his relationship with Elise during a deposition. His feelings for Samar grow and the two plan to go on a date until Aram learns that Samar is connected to the crime they are investigating -- a mass shooting at a seafood company carried out by the Mossad.

In an attempt to get Liz reinstated, Reddington reaches out to the president-elect and implores him to pardon her.

Best: Episode 15: The Apothecary (No. 59) - 8.7

Reddington awakens in a hospital bed to discover his life is in danger. With the knowledge that he has been poisoned and no memory of the previous night, Reddington is forced to follow clues and retrace his steps to discover who has made an attempt on his life.

Dembe's mysterious absence only further complicates the events of the evening. The task force is forced to seek out The Apothecary to secure the antidote and save Raymond's life.

When mysterious diorama's depicting the events of crimes that have not yet occurred turn up on Liz's doorstep, she initially believes she is being taunted. It is later revealed that there is a much more fantastic explanation for these dioramas and the task force attempts to prevent these crimes from occurring.

Dembe grows increasingly worried about Reddington's choices and confides in Elizabeth that Reddington has murdered Mr. Kaplan.

Reddington and the task force frantically search for Dembe as all signs indicate that he is the person who has betrayed Reddington. Dembe, knowing that he appears guilty goes in search of answers and abducts Aram to seek his assistance.

Reddington and Dembe learn that Mr. Kaplan is alive and the person behind the organized attack on Reddington's criminal organization. Reddington and Dembe's lives are threatened by the hunter and Mr. Kaplan learns that she is being pursued.

Worst: Episode 12: Natalie Luca (No. 184) - 7.6

When Reddington's ant is killed by an infectious disease, the task force begins searching for answers. They learn that a woman by the name of Natalie Luca is infecting others in order to fund the research needed to develop a cure for her condition.

At the center of these attacks is a love story between Natalie and her boyfriend Malik. Meanwhile, romance continues to bloom between Aram and Samar and Liz and Tom.

As Mr. Kaplan works to uncover all of the bodies she has hidden for Reddington, fans gain an insight into her past through flashbacks. It is revealed that Mr. Kaplan worked for Katarina when Elizabeth was a baby and helped to raise young Marsha.

The origin of Mr. Kaplan's name is also revealed as her love story with Annie Kaplan is shown. Fans learn how Kaplan came to work for Reddington and hear her promise to always chose Elizabeth over Raymond.

Worst: Episode 11: The Harem (No. 102) - 7.7

Elizabeth goes undercover in a female criminal group known as The Harem to retrieve a list of people in witness protection. Once in the group, she discovers one of the , Emma, had a previous working relationship with Reddington, and Emma warns Liz about getting close to him.

Upset about Mr. Kaplan's death, Elizabeth confronts Reddington about his decision to kill her.

The season finale brings many storylines to a climax and introduces some new questions. With a grand jury deciding the fate of Reddington and the task force, a plan is created to put an end to the inquiry. Mr. Kaplan's storyline comes to an end as she begins to reveal information to Elizabeth, letting her know that the truth will come out after her death. During a confrontation, Laurel Hitchin is accidentally murdered by Ressler.

Meanwhile, Aram learns that Janet has betrayed him and ends the relationship before finally confessing his feelings for Samar. After a DNA test reveals that Reddington is Elizabeth's father, she approaches him with the information. Following Kaplan's death, Tom receives a suitcase with bones inside of it. Reddington tells Dembe they must track down the bones before Elizabeth learns the truth.
