Due to Black Myth: Wukong's massive success, a sequel seems all but certain, and the successor will have plenty of content options. After years of teasers, Black Myth: Wukong immediately found a receptive audience at launch. Though initially plagued with some technical issues, the game smoothed out and was received well. It may be a simple game in some regards, but the return to such simplicity and some fantastic presentation have a lot of appeal.
Wukong was not only a massive success critically but also a financial feat for developer Game Science. It was reported the title sold over 18 million copies in its first two weeks, and it has sold a staggering amount more since. This profit is one large enough to inspire a sequel and likely give the studio an even larger budget.
Black Myth: Wukong Cut Seven Chapters
Quality Over Quantity
Despite its already significant length, Black Myth: Wukong reportedly had to cut seven of 13 chapters due to budget restraints. However, this restructuring was compensated for by the six chapters that were released being extended, with some incorporating content originally planned for multiple chapters.

Black Myth: Wukong's Great Bosses Highlight The Game's Biggest Problem
The climactic heights of Black Myth: Wukong are incredibly high, but they make the weak points seem even more disappointing by comparison.
Though it is unfortunate the game was shortened, it is remarkable that what was released came out as well as it did. There also seems to be no evidence of any massive mechanics or systems being cut, meaning story content, which can always be used later, is the only major missing factor.
Black Myth: Wukong's Sequel Could Explore Cut Chapters
More Stories To Tell
The most recent and knowledgeable leak about the future of Wukong comes from a generally reputable leaker known as Black Myth: Wukong's physical release, filling the gap between Wukong and a sequel.
Some of the best cut content from these chapters revolved around the Jade Emperor, Buddha, and Nezha. Given the huge importance of all these characters in the original Journey To The West story, the likelihood of them having major implications throughout the campaign is high. Since the six chapters that were released show the adventure of resurrecting Wukong through his senses and the Destined One's body, they would likely be different in any future DLC.

Is Black Myth: Wukong Getting DLC?
Due to the massive success of Black Myth: Wukong, many speculations have begun about whether the popular Action RPG will get future DLC.
One idea for this is these characters testing the reborn Monkey King and making sure he is still himself. These would perhaps be more lighthearted stories, as Erlang's goal of stopping the rebirth is now over. However, there are also rumors about this DLC plan that Nezha will have a smaller role, setting up a more pivotal appearance in the sequel.
Where Black Myth: Wukong 2 Could Take The Series From Here
More Monkey King Or A New Protagonist
Luckily, any future sequel has plenty of directions to take the Monkey King. Journey To The West is no small story and still holds plenty of places left unvisited. The adventure of revisiting these places and facing absent foes like the White Bone Demon to further empower or test Sun Wukong would make sense for a successful plot while sticking to the theme of the predecessor.
An alternate option is going down an entirely original plot. This is tricky to predict, as it can go down numerous routes. One concept is that Sun Wukong could continue his rebellion against the Heavens, once again defying the gods. This would arguably be the most popular and likely option. Another idea, though more unrealistic, is the franchise seeing another time skip where Wukong now has to navigate the modern world clashing with his mythological one.

Black Myth: Wukong’s Lore Is Introducing Me To Classical Literature, And I Love It
Black Myth: Wukong’s story draws heavily on the story of Journey to the West, and in turn provides an interesting form of literary education.
The last prediction comes from Ignus again, who claims the sequel is currently titled Black Myth: Jiang Ziya. In history, Jiang Ziya is one of the most memorable Chinese Generals, appearing as a major figure in the classic novel The Investiture of the Gods. A story involving him could mean that he is taking over as the main character, or that Wukong is somehow getting involved. Given that he and Wukong are never mentioned together, the likelihood is the Black Myth franchise will cover multiple characters and not just Wukong.
Overall, anything more fans can get from this franchise is a great gift. The franchise itself hearkens back to a simpler time for gaming and is accompanied by great gameplay that has replayability for those who want it. Though it is a long shot, Black Myth: Wukong could contend for the game of the year, and rightfully so. If Game Science wishes to use this success to propel its franchise further, a Black Myth: Wukong sequel already has the perfect story set-up.
