Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw is an optional boss from Black Myth: Wukong. They are found early on in the first chapter but shouldn’t be trifled with too soon. Since there is no obligation to defeat this frog Yaoguai, you can gather strength and equipment before defeating it. Still, you should get to them at some point in chapter one; otherwise, you’ll miss out on a fun fight and a fairly good crafting recipe.
There are various means of preparing for unexpected boss fights in Black Myth: Wukong. You should always use the best staff available at the time. You can also have healing and items via your drinking gourd and medicines. However, the most important tactic is training and muscle memory. Even with a good status advantage, you will often lose if you can’t aim, dodge, and time your abilities. Practice your skills against different enemies, including potentially dying several times against an enemy.

How To Find & Defeat Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw in Black Myth: Wukong
Yaoguai Lurk Everywhere
Optional Yaoguai mini-bosses are found off the beaten path and need to be discovered in Black Myth: Wukong. Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw is found in Bamboo Grove. You must first defeat the Lingxuzi boss. Afterward, go to the Snake Trail Shrine and head left into the river. The road will split, with snake enemies guarding one side. You want to run in the opposite direction, leading to a pond where Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw rests.
YouTuber Esoterickk fought Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw without taking damage. Many of the boss’s moves are telegraphed with either a charge-up or are left vulnerable afterward. You can use this time to wail on Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw relentlessly.
If you do defeat the enemy patrol, this leads to a completely different boss fight called Guangmou. You should also fight them at some point, though they require different tactics. If you want, you can challenge Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw and Gunagmou back-to-back.
Ambushing Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw
There is no fanfare or intro when Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw is first met in Black Myth: Wukong. This means they are unassuming to your first attack, allowing you to get in a ranged or leap attack without being countered. However, the Yaoguai’s reaction time is fast and might strike you if you resort to a full melee attack.
Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw does have a variety of possible attacks. They may slash with their front feet, which knocks Wukong back. They can also kick with their back legs, either preventing you from approaching from the rear or purposely turning to trick you. It also uses several charged and leap attacks, often fully grounding you if they land. This makes it highly important to always dodge to the side or backward to clear the area.
While Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw does do a lot of frustrating knockdowns and shoves, its damage is relatively low. Unlike other Yaoguai, you can tank most of its hits as long as you have upgraded crafted armor.
Simply get back up and hit Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw until they perish. For your troubles, you’ll earn the Evil Repelling Medicament recipe. When consumed, it reduces damage taken. While the potions can be found in the wild, crafting them with Xu Dog is much more reliable and cheaper in Black Myth: Wukong.
