Rick and Morty has built up a huge backstory for Rick Sanchez – including his long friendship with Birdperson, who just introduced a replacement for Rick who is, in a way, perfect. Younger Rick's actions with Birdperson, Squanchy, and others are what made him one of the most wanted men in the galaxy, and a new reveal shows Space Beth following in his footsteps, for better or for worse.
Rick and Morty's 10th Anniversary Special – written by Alex Firer, with art by Fred C. Stresing – features Rick moving out, finally honoring Jerry's request from the original pilo ten years later. However, Rick retiring from his hare-brained adventures would leave a power vacuum, and a portal gun, which quickly draws intergalactic interest.
Faces from his past and future descend to Earth, looking to find out who Rick will hand over his inheritance to, including Birdperson, who reveals that he and Space Beth have been on their own adventures.

At the end of Rick cloned his daughter, mixed the two up, and released one into space to live out her dreams, while the other stayed home with her family. “Space Beth” quickly became the galaxy's new most wanted person, leading a rebellion against the Gromflomites. This is akin to something her dad did in his younger days; she even teamed up with his former compatriots, including Birdperson. In the 10th Anniversary Special, Birdperson points out that her no-nonsense attitude is very different from her father, as refrains from ing in on “drinking cola and bullets” with the crew.

The Tragedy Of Space Beth Is That She Can't Escape Rick
But She Could Become A Better Version
Even though Rick prefers to mask his true emotions, he clearly values Birdperson as his best friend. It makes sense that Birdperson would attempt to recapture the magic by fighting the power alongside Space Beth. It's a little sad on Beth's end, that even when she tries to escape her father’s shadow, she still follows his path. However, Beth has more ion to do what she believes in, so this doesn't mean she'll end up jaded and cynical like her father. She's much more serious about the fight than he ever was, as even Birdperson himself can see how different she is from Rick and Morty.
