The summer 2025 anime season is just around the corner, and after a spring that was somewhat sleepy in of major releases and hype-factor, it seems fans can't wait for it to arrive. Following the massive success that was Solo Leveling's second season in the winter, mainstream anime's momentum has come to a bit of a standstill, but not for very long. This summer, fans can look forward to the likes of Dandadan, Kaiju no. 8, and Dr. Stone's returns, among other exciting new and returning titles.

There's quite a bit for anime fans to look forward to beyond the summer as well, with releases from Demon Slayer, Chainsaw Man, and Spy x Family rounding out what is shaping up to be a fantastic 2025. Before those shows arrive, however, there's plenty around the corner to keep fans of all genres occupied. Japanese anime news and entertainment website, animate Times, released an official ranking of the most anticipated titles this summer based on a survey, and the results prove that there's something for everyone just up ahead.

What Are Anime Fans Looking Forward to Most This Summer?

The Results Are In, and Anime Fans Can't Wait For Shōnen's Hottest New Titles to Return

It likely won't come as a surprise that anime fans are most looking forward to the return of Dandadan, which is set to premiere on Crunchyroll and Netflix on July 3rd. The anime's first season took the world by storm, and its inclusion in Netflix's lineup attracted a fan base that otherwise would never have sought it out, causing the series to consistently land on the platform's top 10 list each week. Season two is set to cover the manga's Evil Eye arc, and will include one of the series' flashiest, larger-scale battles yet.

It's notable that such a mix of genres is featured within the top 10, with titles anticipated by fans of action, romance, and drama.

Romance fans might just have the most to look forward to, as the return of My Dress-Up Darling and the Rascal Does Not Dream series have been highly anticipated for several years. Of course, shōnen action fans are in for a good time as well, with Dandadan stealing the number one spot and Kaiju no. 8 following close behind. If the spring anime season didn't pack in enough excitement, anime fans are sure to find what they're looking for this summer.
