My Hero Academia's villains have certainly given the series' heroes a run for their money over the years. With incredible Quirks, conniving plans, and a desire to watch heroes fall from power, these villains are not to be underestimated. Although most My Hero Academia villains despise heroes, they each hate them for vastly different reasons.

For example, Shigaraki hates heroes because he blames them for not saving him from a tragic childhood event, while Stain hates heroes because he disagrees with Pro Heroes being paid and adored by society for their efforts, believing that they should not accept material rewards and praise for their work. Additionally, these villains' Quirks are just as varied as their core beliefs. These evildoers are capable of truly atrocious acts using the powers they wield, including everything from burning enemies with flames to disintegrating living and non-living things.

His Quirk Lets Him Compress People and Things

9 Kurogiri Is Complex, Changing Sides by the End of the Story

His Quirk, Warp Gate, Is Incredibly Useful in Battle

Oboro Shirakumo, also called Kurogiri, was Shigaraki's sidekick, helping him with his wicked plans. His Quirk, Warp Gate, has come in handy countless times, allowing him to open portals anywhere and warp others away to new locations. Kurogiri had pledged loyalty to All For One and Shigaraki, but not by choice, because he was created and programmed to fight on the villains' side.

Shockingly, Kurogiri switched sides towards the end of My Hero Academia, breaking away from Shigaraki and All For One. Regardless of whether he's fighting alongside heroes or villains, Kurogiri's Quirk has always been uniquely invaluable. The portals he can create have a wide range of uses and give him great control over battle situations.

8 Stain’s Negative View of Heroes Is Unwavering, Leading Him To Attack Them Any Chance He Gets

His Quirk, Bloodcurdle, Is Simple But Lethal

Stain, named Chizome Akaguro and nicknamed the Hero Killer, has a burning hatred for heroes. His rage towards heroes goes deeper than almost anyone else's in the series. Stain detests heroes because he feels that the profession has become too self-serving, since heroes earn copious money and praise for their work.

Stain relentlessly slaughtered and injured a great number of Pro Heroes, including Tenya Ida's brother, Tensei, who was hospitalized after their battle. The Hero Killer's Quirk, Bloodcurdle, allows him to use someone's blood to paralyze them. This ability almost guarantees him victory, stopping his foe from even moving a muscle.

6 Twice’s Backstory Is Surprisingly Tragic, Explaining Why He Turned to Villainy

His Quirk, Double, Is So Powerful That Hawks Decided to Kill Him

Jin Bubaigawara, known as Twice, is a very well-written and complex villain, with a disastrous backstory that explains why he turned to villainy. Twice's Quirk, Double, lets him create an infinite number of clones of himself. However, this backfired horrendously when his clones began killing one another, leaving him with an identity crisis and doubts over whether he was even the original Twice.

He ed the League of Villains because they accepted him when he felt no one else would. He seems to have a form of Dissociative Identity Disorder, possessing one personality that is upbeat and bubbly and one that is harsh and critical. Twice's story is tragic, since he only became a villain because of the dire circumstances he found himself in with nowhere else to turn.

5 Overhaul Wants To Eliminate All Quirks Entirely

His Quirk, Overhaul, Was the Origin of Shigaraki's Powerful Decay

Kai Chisaki, leader of the Shie Hassaikai, is better known as the evil villain Overhaul. His primary goal is to get rid of Quirks entirely, because he sees them as a horrific curse rather than a blessing. Intriguingly, although he would technically be classified as a villain, he hates both heroes and villains pretty equally for taking advantage of their Quirk abilities.

His own Quirk, entitled Overhaul, essentially allows him to take things apart and put them back together in any way he chooses. This skill has a variety of potential uses and, despite hating Quirks, Overhaul utilizes his Quirk masterfully to achieve his goals. Because of his distinctive power and determined attitude, Overhaul is one of the series' most interesting villains.

4 Toga Himiko Is the Most Unpredictable Villain

However, Toga did not the League of Villains or utilize her Quirk purely out of malice, she just wanted to receive genuine friendship and love and create a better world.

Due to the unsettling nature of her Quirk, Toga was forced to repress it in her youth, but found herself unable to blend in with the people around her, leading her to feel like an outcast. 2 All for One Is My Hero Academia’s Most Menacing and Unstoppable Villain

His Namesake Quirk Puts Him at the Apex of Quirk Society

All For One is the supreme antagonist of My Hero Academia, for good reason. He is pure evil incarnate, bent on taking down heroes so he can rule over the entire world himself. His Quirk, All For One, is absolutely terrifying, enabling him to take the Quirks of others and keep them for himself, or to give them to others. He was the one who ended All Might's hero career, since All Might used the last shreds of One For All fighting against him when the League of Villains kidnapped Bakugo.

Because of the nature of his Quirk, All For One's abilities are nearly limitless. He can take any Quirk he chooses from anyone he touches at any time, making him an almost unstoppable villain. All For One also had another powerful villain on his side, Tomura Shigaraki, who he found abandoned as a defenseless child and convinced to his evil plan. All For One took advantage of Shigaraki, preying on his lonely and guilty state to turn him against heroes.
