ranks of the greatest mages in Golarion. The only problem is that there is an army of demons sitting on the road to success, and most of them sport an annoying degree of spell resistance.

In the Pathfinder rules, a creature with spell resistance has the chance to totally ignore all effects from a spell. This is especially annoying with demons in Wrath of the Righteous, as they also tend to have high saving throws and energy resistance. In Kingmaker, the wizards could happily throw fireballs to their hearts' content, but, in Wrath of the Righteous, they will need to shake up their tactics.

Wrath of the Righteous offers a staggering number of choices for character creation, to the point that many players will spend a good chunk of time just staring at all of the options. There are some options that stand out from the rest, however, based on the fact that the player will face a narrow spectrum of enemy types throughout the game.

The Conjurer Wizard in Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Can Bring In The Elites

Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous Oread

Wrath of the Righteous is one of the best places for summoners. The demons emerging from the Worldwound might be able to tank a fireball and a lightning bolt, thanks to the protection of their spell resistance, but that won't help them against summoned monsters. A Wizard who takes the Conjuration school, dumps Divination and Necromancy, and takes Spell Focus (Conjuration), Augment Summoning, and Superior Summoning bolsters the player's ranks with powerful beasts that can take on the demon hordes on the front lines while the Wizard hangs back in safety.

Sylvan Sorcerer Adds A Powerful Animal To The Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Party

The Sorcerer is already a powerful class, but the Sylvan Sorcerer is one of the best. It's essentially an upgraded version of the Fey bloodline. Instead of receiving the situational Fey bloodline special abilities (Laughing Touch, Fleeting Glance), Sylvan Sorcerers gain an animal companion that progresses at the same rate as a Druid. This is akin to adding another member to the party, while also giving the Sorcerer a mount, which drastically increases their movement range. The Sylvan Sorcerer can also add a dinosaur to the party as an animal companion and send it fighting on the front lines.

The ever-present threat of spell resistance is but a trifle to the Witches of Golarion. They possess special Hexes, which are not affected by spell resistance. This makes it a lot easier for them to deal with demons, as it comes down to a single saving throw for most abilities. Witches can suppress a demon's resistances with the Vulnerability Curse, knock them unconscious with Slumber, or debuff them with the Evil Eye. They gain Major Hexes and Grand Hexes at higher levels, including the mighty Death Curse, which can kill in three turns.
