Palia has several ways for you to spend your time, one of which includes tending to various crops. However, even though there are several options to grow, some optimal crops can be beneficial if you spend more time growing them. However, you don't want to spend too much time on one crop, as each has its benefits.
Though you can find other uses for crops, including gifting and energy, the primary use of this resource is often selling for Gold. Though it may be easier to grow the highest-selling crops, it isn't always the best option. Since the cost of seeds can affect the true gain from a sale, some crops that sell high also have a longer, more tedious growth process.
Be sure to ols in Palia whenever possible as it can make all aspects of gardening much more lucrative.
7 Wheat
Though Wheat is not the most profitable crop in Palia, it is worth growing. Wheat boosts crops around it, meaning it will increase the harvest yield. It's worth noting that this is only one of two crops with this benefit, so be sure to place it strategically. Even if it is not worth growing for its own harvest, it is worth planting Wheat near crops that would provide more benefit with the boost in the harvest. On their own, Wheat seeds can be bought for 25 Gold and then sold for 33 Gold or 49 Gold for star quality.
6 Rice
Rice is the other crop in Palia that gives the neighboring benefit of an increased yield with the harvest. Though Wheat and Rice offer the same benefit, Rice is a slightly better crop to go just for its slightly better sale price. Its seeds can be bought for 23 Gold and then sold for 27 Gold as well as 40 Gold for star-quality wheat. Though its actual net profit is lower than that of Wheat, it can be harvested every 3 days, rather than every 4. So over a 12-day period, Rice can be harvested 4 times, while Wheat could only be harvested 3. So it's a give and take that is really up to players to determine what is more convenient for them.
5 Potatoes
Though Potatoes don't stand out for their profit, they can be turned into something more valuable that you should consider growing them. Their crop benefit is water retention, but tomatoes share this boost and are a far superior crop. Potato seeds can be bought for 40 Gold and then sold for 45 Gold or 67 Gold for star quality. As a profit of 5 Gold is not particularly exciting, it's worth considering making Pickled Potatoes in Palia. Pickled Potatoes can be sold for 69 Gold, granting a much better profit. Potatoes can be harvested once during their growth cycle and have a 5-day harvest time.
4 Cotton
Cotton is one of the lower-level crops to consider in Palia when looking to start making a profit on crops. Though Cotton offers the same stats as potatoes, with a seed cost of 40 Gold and a crop sell price of 45 Gold and 67 Gold for Star Quality, they offer the neighboring crop benefit of a boost in quality. This can be a valuable asset as it directly has the chance to increase the value of crops around it.
So though Cotton itself may not offer much in the way of profits, it can, in the long run, result in an overall harvest increase in profits by boosting the value of other crops. Be sure to place it strategically to get the most value out of its ability.
3 Blueberries
When it comes to overall profit, Blueberries are the second best crop to invest in Palia. Blueberries are also one of the most profitable crops to grow in Stardew Valley. Blueberries have a high selling price of 39 Gold Coins and 58 Gold Coins for star quality. Though this doesn't immediately seem like a better profit than potatoes, especially since it has a longer harvest time of 9 days, Blueberries can be harvested four times over that harvest period. In the long run, Blueberries can provide more profit due to their increased harvest.
Not only that, but Blueberries have an excellent neighboring crop benefit of speeding up the harvest time of crops around it. This makes the potential overall profit even better for an overall garden harvest. However, be warned that Blueberries require a 2x2 soil spot, unlike most others that only require one slot.
Blueberries and Apple seeds cannot be bought with Gold and must be purchased with Gardening Medals or Skill Points. Blueberries cost 45 Gardening Medals, and Apples cost 280 Gardening Medals.
2 Apples
In of the most profitable crop in Palia, Apples take the lead. Apples have a selling price of 64 Gold Coins and 96 Gold Coins for star-quality crops. Additionally, despite their long harvest time of 12 days, Apples can be harvested four times,, and each harvest yields 16 crops, which is more than Blueberries.
Apples also provide the same neighboring crop boost that Blueberries do with an accelerated harvest time to the surrounding crops. Unfortunately, despite all the good that Apples offer, they cannot be grown until reaching Gardening level 10, so they can't be grown immediately. Additionally, Apples require a 3x3 gardening slot.
1 Tomatoes
Though Tomatoes are by far not the most profitable crop when it comes to a direct cost of seed price to a sale of crop ratio, they are the best crop to grow, especially early on in Palia. Tomatoes don't require a higher gardening level like Blueberries and Apples or more than one soil slot. Though their high seed cost of 80 Gold Coins often has them overlooked, they sell for a simple 23 Gold or 34 Gold for star quality.
Tomatoes can be harvested more often than any other level 1 crop. Tomatoes have a harvest growth time of 4 days but can be harvested four times every two days. Therefore, though Tomatoes aren't the best-selling crop in Palia, they are the best alternative to Apples and Blueberries until they can be grown.
