There are few animation studios with a better catalog of series than A-1 Pictures. With their most recent hit, Solo Leveling, taking the world by storm, it's easy to forget that the Japanese studio has several top-tier anime series that might make them the best studio in the art form. Solo Leveling's massive success might be the greatest short-term success that the series has found, but the manhwa adaptation is just one of their numerous crowning achievements.

A-1 Pictures is amazing because of their range. They have exciting shōnen series, moving romantic dramas, and some of the best isekai series around. Few studios can match their diversity when it comes to what they choose to animate. Most studios will stick with one genre and animate great manga and manhwa from that space. A-1 Pictures is willing to go where other studios won't, animating tons of amazing series from every imaginable genre.

Mashle: Magic and Muscles is somehow as funny as it is action-packed. The series is a lot like Harry Potter, if Harry weren't a prodigal wizard and was instead one of the strongest people on Earth. Mashle stars Mash Burnedead as the one character at his academy who can't use magic.

While that may seem like an obvious drawback, Mash's absurd muscles make it anything but. He's so strong that even most other characters' magic can't compare. The series is at its best when Mash is on his A-game, which he always is. A-1 Pictures does a great job of bringing this absurd series to life with great, fast animation that shows just how crazy Mash's strength is.

The Seven Deadly Sins is another one of A-1 Pictures' heavy hitters. The series stars the titular Seven Deadly Sins as they look to get their names cleared from a coup d'état that they never committed. Each of the Sins brings a unique personality and power set to the screen that only A-1 Pictures could have truly brought to life.

The manga behind the anime adaptation is one of the highest-selling series ever. It also won the 39th Kodansha Manga Award in the shōnen category, one of the most prestigious series in Japan for manga. Thankfully, A-1 Pictures took the series and ran with it, showing off Meliodas and the rest of the Sins in the adaptation they deserved.

Animated A-1 Pictures, Based On The Light Novel Series By Asato Asato

86 -Eighty Six- is a brutal, dystopian anime series great for anyone looking for a dark, action-packed adventure. The series focuses on the Republic of San Magnolia as they fight a nearly eternal war against their enemy, the Empire of Giad. The Empire has been fighting with autonomous robots, and according to the Republic, the people believed them to be doing the same.

However, the Republic of San Magnolia actually uses citizens from its most marginalized area, the 86th district. It's an interesting series that tells the tale of thankless fighters who are seen as less than human. Their handler, luckily, recognizes their humanity and is working hard to get them the acclaim they deserve.

Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines! is one of the most refreshing romance anime series ever made. While most romantic anime series focus on the two people who won the war on love, Makeine takes a look at the characters who weren't as successful. The series throws a spotlight on these titular "losers", showing that love is a lot more complicated than it appears to be.

Makeine: Too Many Losing Heroines! shines for a number of reasons. The main cast of characters is enchanting, the story interweaves through them masterfully, and above all, the animation style stands out as one of the most unique in years. A-1 Pictures hit it out of the park when they animated Makeine, and with season 2 on the horizon, we can only hope for more.

Kaguya-sama: Love is War is one of the best anime series of all time. Kaguya-sama stands out in so many areas that it almost feels unfair to compare it to other anime series. It's hilarious, sincere, adorable, and comes with some of the best animation in the genre.

This Episode of Kaguya-Sama: Love is War Shows Why It's Much More Than a Romantic Comedy

Kaguya-Sama: Love is War is a beautifully simple, genre-bending series about love, pride, and power with a knack for subverting romcom safety.

The series stars Shinomiya Kaguya as she tries to get her crush, Miyuki Shirogane, to it that he likes her. Unfortunately for the titular character, he's trying to do the exact same thing. A-1 Pictures does an excellent job of bringing their war of love to life, animating all the highs (and lows) of someone's first love better than anyone could have expected.

Sword Art Online is a mainstay of anime. There are few who watch anime that haven't at least heard of this series, if they haven't watched it already. Sword Art Online, often referred to as SAO, defined the isekai genre before isekai became synonymous with anime. Before Overlord, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, or Re:Zero, there was Sword Art Online.

Out of all the amazing series brought to life by A-1 Pictures, none have had the monumental success of Solo Leveling. Solo Leveling has broken so many records that the series is truly in a league of its own. Nobody could have predicted the success of the Webtoon adaptation, and even the crew at A-1 Pictures had no idea the series would be this massive.

Like all of A-1 Pictures' best anime series, there are several factors behind Solo Leveling's success. The series itself is one of the best edgy anime shows of all time, proving that edgy doesn't have to be cringe. The animation is another high point, as A-1 Pictures brings Sung Jinwoo's fights to life masterfully.
