A new episodic anime titled Berserk: Memorial Edition, that did little to sate fans' desire for a new anime. A new fan animation, however, is making it obvious how glorious a new anime would be.
Update: It turns out there are now two animation projects in the works for Berserk, actually. Taking to social media, animator Sweetheartist announced their own plans for the series. As you can see below, the fan-animator is set to release a special Berserk tribute on March 29 by way of YouTube. The project marks yet another gorgeous (unofficial) tribute to Berserk, proving once again that the anime fandom is desperate for a fair take on Guts' journey.
Posted to X by animator @rocketboiART, the 17-second clip depicts Guts in the titular Berserk Armor running toward the camera, swinging Dragonslayer with reckless abandon. In the last few seconds, Guts' face is shown twisted in rage. At the time of writing, the animation has 45,000 likes with roughly 5,600 reposts. The animation has a loose quality to it that is reminiscent of the fluid animation found in the works of Studio Trigger.
Fans Are Loving New Berserk Animation
The Animation Is Getting Heaps Of Praise On X
Fans of Berserk and animation, in general, have responded with overwhelming positivity to @rocketboiART's animation. In addition to all the likes and reposts, fans have been praising the work. X @Vann_Oba responded with "Crazy work bro" while more than a few s like @VARRVARRVARR praised the animation while wondering how long it took @rocketboiART to make, to which he responded that it took around 4 days.
New Berserk Fan-Animation Has Us Wondering When The Next Bersek Anime Will Drop
It's Been 8 Years Since The Last New Berserk Anime
The gorgeous and fluid animation naturally brings up a desire to see more Berserk anime. Unfortunately, any plans for more Berserk anime appeared to have stalled out after the poor reception to 2016's Berserk. That series was heavily criticized for its poor implementation of 3D animation and how it changed elements of Kentaro Miura's original manga. Since then, the only other Berserk anime to release was 2022's Memorial Edition, which while generally well-received, was both another adaptation of the Golden Age and was also mostly just a recut version of the movie trilogy.
However, since that time, Berserk has exploded in popularity, at least in the West. The series' enduring legacy and impact on works of fantasy such as Dark Souls has made Kentaro Miura's epic more popular than ever across the globe.

Berserk Deserves an Anime Comeback, And I Know the Perfect Team to Do It
Despite the manga's legendary success, Berserk has never had a proper anime adaptation, but there's one creative team who would be perfect for it.
Looking at @rocketboiART's animation, it's easy to see the high potential for a new Berserk anime. The series has such a distinct style, and even though it has a wide influence, there is still nothing quite like it. While no word has officially been announced about any new Berserk anime projects, the series' enduring legacy and immense popularity only make it a matter of time. Whether any new anime will be done with the flare present in @rocketboiART's animation, however, remains to be seen.

Berserk is a dark fantasy manga series by Kentaro Miura, first published in 1989. Set in a medieval Europe-inspired world, it follows Guts, a lone mercenary, and his struggle against demonic forces after his betrayal by Griffith, leader of the Band of the Hawk.
