Throughout Below Deck Down Under season 3, viewers have watched as Lara and Tzarina have clashed at nearly every intersection. Despite Chief Stew Lara knowing she has to work with Chef Tzarina, she's made things uncomfortable for the both of them frequently, while Tzarina has struggled to understand Lara's personality overall. With the Chief Stew criticizing Tzarina's service in a way that the Chef hasn't enjoyed, it's been tense.
While Tzarina and Lara's beef has seemed to be more about their time on Below Deck Down Under season 3's cast, it became clear as the show continued on that the pair had a past. Despite having been aware of one another earlier, Below Deck viewers didn't realize that Tzarina and Lara had history that bled into their feud aboard Katina. While both have mostly avoided going to Captain Jason Chambers about their issues, their problems with one another have definitely impacted the rest of the crew. Tzarina's interesting history with Lara's ex-boyfriend has played a part in their feud.
Lara Claimed Tzarina Was Friends With Her Ex
She Felt Tzarina Purposefully Hurt Her
In the most recent episode of Below Deck Down Under season 3, Lara and Tzarina's feud had come to a difficult point. Throughout the season, Lara and Tzarina haven't been able to see eye-to-eye, especially when it comes to the moments they have to share. While Lara is often working with the rest of the interior crew and Tzarina works alone more frequently, both women have had some terse interactions throughout the season when it comes to the guests' meal services. Tzarina's found herself struggling to keep herself above water, especially while dealing with difficult guests and their Katina charters.

In the most recent episode, Tzarina and Lara's feud reached its breaking point. After struggling throughout the season, the Chef and Chief Stew were having a difficult time being in the same space, and when Captain Jason got involved, Lara spoke a bit more freely about the problems she had with Tzarina. Apparently, prior to the season Lara and Tzarina had been good enough friends for them to know each other's romantic partners. Lara shared that after she'd broken up with him, Tzarina had gotten close with her cheating ex-boyfriend. Lara was hurt that Tzarina hadn't seemed to consider her.
Tzarina Had A Similar Situation Last Season
Many Pointed Out Tzarina & João's Situation
Although Lara's story was only one side of what happened between her and Tzarina, it was clear that it was something that Lara hadn't been happy about in the past. While Tzarina didn't comment on the story on screen, it felt reminiscent to something that viewers saw last season on Below Deck Down Under. Throughout the season, Tzarina and João Franco had a confusing dynamic. While they hadn't met before the season, Tzarina knew of João prior to Below Deck Down Under season 2 because of a friend of hers who'd had a difficult time with the Below Deck villain.
While Tzarina appeared as though she wasn't going to interact with João because she hadn't heard good things about him, she wound up having a bit of a boatmance with the exterior team member. While the pair had a boatmance during the season, it didn't last past the charter season, and even ended on board because of an incident where Tzarina felt humiliated by João. Regardless, Tzarina and João's situation felt eerily similar to the issue Lara was describing, with Tzarina creating a bond with someone she'd, for all intents and purposes, been warned to explicitly avoid on Below Deck.
Lara Offered An Apology To Tzarina
She Tried To Be The Bigger Person
During the most recent episode, it was shocking to see Lara make the call to apologize for her behavior toward Tzarina. While it wasn't exactly clear if Lara was being genuine with her apology or was simply trying to offer a truce through the end of the season, Tzarina accepted the apology. Lara was clear that she'd been tough on Tzarina and created some conditions that the Chef shouldn't have had to deal with. Tzarina, on the other hand, offered her own apology to Lara by the end of their conversation, making it clear she was also in the wrong.
Despite knowing that Lara had been stirring things up, seeing Tzarina apologize for her behavior as well was a positive sign for the womens' struggling relationship. Tzarina, who's been dragged as the villain on Below Deck Down Under season 3, has been open about the fact that she's not thrilled with the way she's been edited on the show. Even so, knowing that she chose to take ability for the issues, too, made it clear that there's a lot more nuance to the story than even the two Below Deck crew are letting on while they're working aboard Katina.
Tzarina Shared Her Side Of The Story On A Podcast
She Claims Things Were Different Than They Seem
Although Tzarina and Lara have mended fences on screen, the details surrounding their feud may not have fully come to light yet. While Lara shared on screen that Tzarina had become close with her ex-boyfriend after being warned not to, Tzarina felt it was necessary for her to come forward with her side of the story. Though Lara seemed to be sharing the truth, Tzarina opened up about the fact that there was a lot more that Lara wasn't sharing, which made the story completely different than what was told on Below Deck Down Under season 3's most recent episode.
According to Tzarina on the Watch What Crappens podcast, Lara was trying to spin the story to make it sound like she wasn't involved in the situation, and that Tzarina had started hanging out with her cheating ex-boyfriend as a slight. Tzarina explained that from her perspective, the entire thing had come about because Lara had asked Tzarina to scope out her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend to get details on what was happening between them. Tzarina claims to have been helping Lara out, while Lara made it seem like Tzarina was doing something wrong on Below Deck Down Under.
Below Deck Down Under season 3 airs Mondays at 8 p.m. EDT on Bravo.
