Below Deck Down Under season 3, Captain Jason has had to take a slightly different approach to the way he handles issues with the crew. Captain Jason, one of the most beloved and well-respected captains in the franchise, has been part of the crew for years, but things have taken a turn throughout this season.

While Captain Jason's quality of work hasn't really changed, the way he's interacting with his crew and the level of self-awareness he seems to have has been different throughout the season. With some feeling that the long-time captain is more of a villain than ever before, Captain Jason has been getting slapped down by Below Deck Down Under viewers who have enjoyed him on the show in the past. With a totally different air about him, it's been clear that something has changed for the Below Deck captain, but it hasn't been obvious what's making the difference in his performance.

While it's likely that it's a subconscious shift, it appears that Captain Jason has taken the changes quite literally.

Captain Jason’s Season 3 Performance Has Been Panned

Below Deck Viewers Are Calling Him A Villain

Below Deck's Captain Jason has been struggling throughout the current season, although he seems to be performing at a normal capacity in some situations. While Captain Jason isn't doing a bad job overall, he's been far less connected with his crew throughout the charter season, and hasn't been taking disciplinary action seriously. Throughout Below Deck Down Under season 3, it's been clear that Captain Jason is being a bit more performative for the cameras, which has pushed him to do his job overall a bit less.

While there's been some who have enjoyed the shift in Captain Jason, most Below Deck Down Under viewers haven't been happy with the performance he's been giving. Though he's been charming and funny in his interview moments, the gratuitous use of Jason as a sex symbol and the lack of genuine Captaincy has been shocking for most. It's possible there's a good reason for the shift, but it's not clear what's changed him.

Although most the drama of Below Deck Down Under season 2, it's clearly made some major impact on the way Captain Jason's been working with his crew . When Captain Jason terminated Luke Jones for his attempted sexual assault on stew Margot Sisson, it was clear that he was doing the best he could with the resources and information available. Moving quickly and efficiently, Captain Jason didn't stand for Luke's behavior. Even so, the difficult situation changed the way Below Deck Down Under would be produced forever, and would eventually change Captain Jason's behavior.
