There are plenty of mysteries I hope Beetlejuice 2's characters comprised of returning and intriguingly new cast , I'm all in.
With Michael Keaton's bio-exorcist banished in Beetlejuice 2's story updates already shed light on many of the more key mysteries, including who summoned Beetlejuice, what happened to Charles Deetz, and what's up with Beetlejuice's wife. However, there are two specific characters from the 1988 movie that the sequel must mention. And no, I'm not talking about Adam and Barbara Maitland.

Beetlejuice 2 Finally Explains A Gross Detail From Lydia’s Original Wedding Scene
It took 36 years, but Beetlejuice 2 finally solved a mystery presented during Beetlejuice and Lydia’s wedding scene from the original movie.
Beetlejuice 2 Needs To Reveal Whether Maxie & Sarah Dean Survived The Original Movie's Ending
The Fates Of Maxie & Sarah Dean Were Never Revealed In Beetlejuice
I never stopped wondering what happened to Maxie and Sarah Dean after Beetlejuice sent them flying through the roof.
Despite the supernatural instances caused by Beetlejuice in the original movie, Charles decided to use that to entice his boss to help turn the town of Winter River into a tourist location. Before any financial could be discussed, the boss, Maxie Dean (Robert Goulet), insisted on seeing evidence of the ghosts targeting the Deetz family. Maxie and his wife Sarah (Maree Cheatham) were present for the séance at the Deetz house, which results in the couple being launched into the air and never being seen again. After many years of wondering, I'd love Beetlejuice 2 to reveal their fates.
When thinking of Beetlejuice's séance scene, my mind instantly goes to Charles and Delia's reaction to what they were witnessing. But I never stopped wondering what actually happened to Maxie and Sarah Dean after Beetlejuice sent them flying through the roof. Peace was relatively restored after Beetlejuice was sent back to the other realm. Granted, the rest of Beetlejuice gave no indication that Maxie and Sarah were alive. Based on their predicament, I can't be the only one to assume they may have died from Beetlejuice's actions, which could be interesting for the sequel.
Beetlejuice Being A Murderer Would Make His Sequel Return Even More Terrifying
Michael Keaton's Character Could Be A Wanted Killer
Look, when Tim Burton initially decided to have Beetlejuice launch Maxie and Sarah into the sky with the help of a strongman carnival game, I doubt he worried about clearing up any character fates for a potential sequel. But 36 years later, here we are. If Maxie and Sarah Dean had been killed during the original movie, Beetlejuice would technically be a murderer, which doesn't bode well for his return to the living realm in the sequel. Surely, there are serious consequences set by those in charge of the Neitherworld for of the dead killing the living.
With Charles confirmed dead in Beetlejuice 2, I worry that the sequel will fail to answer what happened to Maxie and Sarah Dean. Since they were more closely linked to Charles and his job, the sequel may just by the mystery and act like it never happened as part of the botched séance. My ideal scenario would be for Beetlejuice 2 to confirm Maxie and Sarah Dean's deaths as a way to increase the stakes for Beetlejuice 2's return now that he's considered a killer. The twist could even connect to Willem Dafoe's role as the ghost detective hunting down Keaton's character.
