Despite Battlefield 2042's current problems, it has some of the most fun and satisfying sniper gameplay in the series. Although there are only three snipers to choose from, BF2042's snipers each have distinct sweet spots and feels. In addition, each sniper has its own traits, like bullet velocity, bullet drop, and scope-in time, making each weapon feel unique. All of this, combined with BF2042's massive 128 player count and huge maps, Battlefield sniping has never felt more chaotic and rewarding than it does now.
Being a good sniper is not as easy as equipping the best sniper and attachments in Battlefield 2042, expecting to dominate the enemy team. Players cannot quick-scope in BF2042 or any Battlefield game for that matter, so running headfirst into enemies will more likely get players killed than allow them to do anything of use. Like all Battlefield games, the first key to being a good sniper is map placement. Knowing where enemies usually push objectives and securing good sniper spots from a distance is the key. Defensive snipers with the high ground will be far more successful than snipers attempting to push on the ground or head-on.
As for the actual snipers in Battlefield 2042's multiplayer, there are some clear winners and losers. The game's beginner sniper, the SWS-10, is a solid sniper rifle for close to medium range but struggles at longer ranges due to its bullet drop. In matches with tighter placers of battle, the SWS is a great choice, but most of BF2042's maps are in big, open areas, so it may not be as useful as other snipers. The game's last unlockable sniper, the NTW-50, can take an opponent out in one shot. However, its bullet velocity, bullet drop, range, and accuracy is so bad that it's not even remotely worth using, even though players have to grind to level 60 to get it. This only leaves one sniper left: The DXR-1.
Best DXR-1 Loadout in Battlefield 2042
The DXR-1 has the longest range of all the sniper rifles in Battlefield 2042, along with the best accuracy and bullet velocity, making it the obvious choice for all snipers in BF2042. Here's the best set-up for the weapon:

- Long Barrel: More bullet velocity
- High Power Ammunition: More damage and range
- Secondary Weapon: MP28 full-auto pistol
- Gadget: Proximity Sensor
As for which operator to choose, the best operator for snipers is either Sundance or Macay due to their high mobility. Which one to use is entirely up to each player's playstyle. Sundance is useful for quick movements off of high places or getting even better placement on high grounds. At the same time, Mckay is more beneficial for snipers trying to get to the high ground way quicker by using the grappling hook. Either operator will fit this marksman loadout perfectly, so choosing is ultimately up to the player.
