Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for DC x Sonic the Hedgehog #1Remarkably, DC Comics has confirmed what many have long suspected: Shadow The Hedgehog makes way too much sense, and the two of them are basically twins. DC Comics has just released a very exciting crossover between the DC Universe and the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. As such, The Dark Knight and The Ultimate Life Form finally meet, and the result is something truly special (and darkly tragic).
In the new DC x Sonic the Hedgehog #1 by Ian Flynn and Adam Bryce Thomas, Darkseid has come to Sonic's universe in search of the Master Emerald, creating a new "Chaos Crisis" that brings the Justice League face-to-face with Team Sonic. Each Justice League member is paired off with Sonic and his friends, with Sonic himself naturally teaming up with The Flash, Knuckles ing forces with Superman, and so forth. As a result, Batman is shown fighting parademons side-by-side with Shadow, a major pop culture dream come true.
Batman And Shadow The Hedgehog Are Already Perfect Partners
Dark And Broody (With A Preference For Black)
Even before Team Sonic and the Justice League officially come together and unite against Darkseid, Batman and Shadow instantly started working together to save a mother and child trapped in an alley from rampaging parademons. No words are needed, and the two dark heroes simply get to work saving the day before heading to find the next threat. There's truly no better way for Batman and Shadow to meet in this new crossover.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Ruined a Piece of Shadow, But There Is a Way to Fix It?
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 changed a major part of Shadow's origin story, but there's still a way to save his backstory that fans can look forward to.
That said, words are eventually exchanged when Shadow suggests he doesn't need anyone and would do better working alone than with all the other heroes. This provides Batman with the perfect opportunity to reach out to The Ultimate Life Form, relating to the black and red hedgehog as only The Dark Knight possibly can. After all, Batman and Shadow have much more in common than just general broodiness and an affinity for the color black.
Batman And Shadow Are The Same (For One Dark Reason)
Driven By Loss/Vengeance
Stopping Shadow, Batman simply asks the black-and-red hedgehog who it was that he couldn't protect and watched die, recognizing the loss and pain Shadow carries and his drive for vengeance. It's the very same drive Batman himself has carried since losing his parents, motivating his evolution into The Dark Knight. Confirming that he lost Maria Robotnik when the government opened fire trying to eliminate him, Shadow hears Batman out, who says he uses every advantage at his disposal to protect Gotham and the world, proposing that the Justice League could be just as valuable to Shadow as he would be to them.
"Were Shadow to ever find himself in Gotham City, there's no doubt he would fit right in with the rest of the Bat-Family..."
Reluctantly agreeing to work together, the rest of the issue sees Shadow ing Batman as they head to battle on their respective motorcycles, as if we needed more confirmation that Shadow very much is Batman in hedgehog form. Were Shadow to ever find himself in Gotham City, there's no doubt he would fit right in with the rest of the Bat-Family. As such, it's going to be very exciting to see how Batman and Shadow's epic new partnership continues, not to mention all the other team-ups as the new DC x Sonic The Hedgehog crossover continues.
