Throughout Baldur's Gate 3, the party will meet and work with many characters and organizations. Some of these can be recruited to aid in the final battle for the fate of Faerûn, and they can help in a variety of ways. From buffing the party to directly getting involved in the fight some allies are worth making friends with.
[Warning: This article contains spoilers for Baldur's Gate 3.]
The quest "Gather Your Allies" begins in Act 1 and continues right through to the end of Baldur's Gate 3 with quests and dialogue choices impacting who will help. Each of the characters or groups available in the continuous quest has its own set of objectives that must be completed for them to be considered allies and come to the party’s aid. While these are the best buffs to try to get, with around 28 individual allies gathering more is always better especially when fighting Netherbrains.

There is sometimes a bug that causes Aylin to summon with reduced health however making sure she is fully healed while she is in camp should fix this issue.
9 Rolan/Lorroakan - Uses Ramazith's Tower In Battle
Either Must Be Alive In Act 3
Both Rolan and Lorroakan can be recruited as allies, although not at the same time as one will replace the other depending on choices made. To recruit Lorroakan he must be sided with when completing "Find the Nightsong" which will remove Aylin as a potential ally. The better option is to help Rolan who must be kept alive through each act of BG3 and then side with Aylin against Lorroakan.
To keep Rolan alive in each act the refugees must be sided with in Act 1, Isobel must remain at Last Light Inn and Rolan must be found in the Shadow-Cursed Lands in Act 2, then finally Aylin must be sided with in Act 3.
Both Lorroakan and Rolan give the same benefit as allies, calling on the powers in Ramazith's Tower to the party. Whether called Rolan's Firestorm or Lorroakan's Firestorm the affect is the same as an enhanced version of fireball will be launched dealing AOE damage to all those caught in the six-meter radius. The effect deals 10d6 fire damage plus 10d6 force damage, which is fantastic but can only be used once during the final battle.

If Raphael is defeated with Yurgir's help, then he can be summoned into battle at the end of BG3. Yurgir is great both in melee and at ranged and can become invisible after attacking letting him maneuver around the battlefield. With a decent number of hit points and abilities at his disposal Yurgir can be resummoned throughout the battle unless he is killed.
6 Halsin & Thaniel - Buff Throughout Final Battle
Halsin Must Party After Thaniel Is Rescued
Rescuing Halsin is one of the earliest quests given to the party after they arrive back on Faerûn. He can be found in the Goblin Camp and after the Absolute leaders there have been defeated Halsin will the party in Act 2. This is where Halsin's personal quest begins as he seeks to lift the Shadow Curse which means rescuing Thaniel.
Once Thaniel has been rescued, Halsin will the party as a full companion and will remain available so long as both Isobel and Aylin also survive Act 2. For the final battle the party will receive the buff Spirit of the Land which gives each party member plus one to all their ability scores and an extra two meters of movement. This might not sound like much, but the boost to ability scores and speed make movement around the battlefield and attack much easier.
5 Volo - Buff Throughout Final Battle
Must Be Saved In Acts 1 & 3
Volo can first be met in the Druid Grove in Act 1, after which he will leave for the Goblin Camp where he will need rescuing. Volo will the party camp after this as a vendor and also offer to help free the player character of their tadpole. Taking Volo up on his offer will cost the character an eye but Volo will provide Volo's Ersatz Eye as a replacement granting the ability see invisibility.
Volo can be found again in Act 3 tied up by an angry mob and in need of rescue again. Once again Volo will the party camp and provide the buff Volo's Guide to Monsters in the final battle. This buff is fantastic as it gives a plus two to all attack rolls, saving throws, and ability checks for the entire party.

Mizora is the cambion patron of Wyll and will pop up during the events of BG3 so long as Wyll is in the party. In the fight, Mizora can be summoned to rain down magic and has metamagic ives like a sorcerer. Mizora will remain until the party is out of combat, after this she can be summoned again unless she is killed.
3 Isobel - Provides One Time Spell
Must Be Kept Alive In Act 2 & Aylin Freed
Isobel is a cleric of Selûne and daughter of Ketheric Thorm who can be met in Act 2 in the Last Light Inn. When met she is keeping the inn and the people there safe from the Shadow Curse with a powerful moon shield. There are two instances in Act 2 where Isobel can die, but she must be kept safe in order to be able to recruit Jaheira as well as keep Dammon, Rolan, and other vital NPCs alive.
If Aylin is freed at the end of Act 2 she will reunite with Isobel and the party camp. If both Aylin and Isobel are free and alive by the time of the final battle both will lend their aid to the party. In the battle Isobel can provide a powerful healing spell that can heal six nearby allies for 14d6 hit points, but is a one-time use.
The easiest way for Isobel to die is during the attack on Last Light Inn which is triggered by speaking with her. The easiest way to avoid this is to simply ignore her as her buff against the Shadow Curse is not strictly needed so long as a Moonlantern is found.
2 Duke Ravengard - Provides Temporary Hit Points
Must Be Alive At End Of Act 3
Duke Ulder Ravengard is the father of companion Wyll and is not met properly until Act 3 when the party must free him from the clutches of the Absolute. His kidnapping is mentioned in Act 1 when the Flaming Fist and Counsellor Florrick are met, after which the party will see Ravengard from a distance in the Mind Flayer Colony. But it won't be until Act 3 and a trip to the Iron Throne that Ravengard can be recruited.
To recruit Ravengard he must be rescued alive from the Iron Throne prison which can be difficult depending on choices made with Mizora. If alive Ravengard will aid the party with a unique version of rally and provide 30 temporary hit points. This is a brilliant amount of extra help, especially if playing as a spellcaster, and makes the difference in the tough fight.
The best way to save Ravengard is Wyll's pact with Mizora was broken is to send Shadowheart to get him. She must heal him before Mizora can summon explosive spiders and then use the dimension door to move him closer to the exit.
1 Bhaal - Provides Spell And Buff For Dark Urge Origin Only
Must Defeat Orin And Become Bhaal's Chosen
The final buff comes courtesy of the Lord of Murder himself, Bhaal. This buff is specific to those playing the Dark Urge Origin and cannot be gained any other way. To get Bhaal as an ally against the Netherbrain the Dark Urge must once again become their 'Father's' favorite and resume their role as his Chosen.
To do this Orin must be defeated in Act 3, whether with the party or as party of the Slayers duel. After the fight, Bhaal will offer the Dark Urge the choice to become his chosen once more and if they accept then he will grant the buff A Most Bloody Inheritance. This will give the Dark Urge the ability to cast stunning gaze during the final fight in Baldur's Gate 3 as well as reduce the requirement for them to get a critical hit by two which stacks with other similar effects.
