From what Larian Studios has revealed so far about their release of their relationships with other characters.
Lorian Studios' development process in regards to character creation is also nothing to scoff at and it is no wonder the game received a slight delay. According to development updates posted by the studio, All characters and races are based on 3D scans of actual actors and models. The team at Lorian Studios claims they have meticulously selected and molded these scans to resemble their desired vision for the non-human races as well as to create diversity among the humans. The team also gladly talks about how they searched for models that had imperfections or unique features as they figured it would add to the uniqueness of each character and race. By utilizing the scans of 40 different people of varying ages and ethnicities, BG3 will launch into early access with a total of 150 base heads to choose from across the races and subraces available in the game. Below is a list of the available races and their subraces that the game will launch with as well as details about the unique backgrounds of each one.
