Katie Thurston, the current lead on The Bachelor, America fell in love with her honesty, down-to-earth personality and openness about her sex-positivity. She never tries to be something she's not, and that includes looking and dressing exactly how she wants. The Bachelorette is only two episodes in, but viewers can already see that Katie isn't messing around when it comes to finding love. For example, when Aaron Clancy disclosed to Katie that Cody Menk wasn't on The Bachelorette for the right reasons, she immediate sent Cody packing after deciding she couldn't trust him. She's also not refraining from spending extra time with those she feels are husband potential. Though Greg Grippo received the coveted first impression rose, he also landed the season's first one-on-one date, much to the disappointment of the other men. In fact, filming apparently wrapped up early because Katie was so confident in her decisions.
It's clear that The Bachelorette's Katie knows who she is and what she wants, and she refuses to let others try to change her. On her Instagram Story, Katie called out fans who give her unwarranted advice on how she can improve her looks. She said, "Alright, I'm creating a new rule for myself. Anyone who wants to message me about my part or my fashion, or lack thereof, I'm just gonna block you. I mean, I know a lot of you guys don't have any hate about it. You're just giving me friendly suggestions. But when you get them everyday, it's like, god damn." Katie shared a Direct Message from one follower, who said, "Hey girlie, you're gorgeous, but the side part," with a cringe emoji. Katie simply responded, "Thank you for your ."
She went on to explain how, despite being tossed into the public spotlight, she's "just your basic ****ing girl." Though Katie may not appear as glamorous as other leads, especially in her white T-shirt-wearing Bachelorette promo videos, she feels having a good heart is more important than what her hair and clothes look like. "It's not about the wrapping paper. It's the gift inside," she said. "And that's what I am, a ****ing gift."
So far, Katie is navigating her Bachelorette journey flawlessly and is connecting with several of her suitors on a deep level. She and Greg experienced a tearful dinner after discovering they both lost their fathers. On the group date, Katie formed a bond with Mike Planeta, who disclosed that he's abstaining from sex until marriage. As for Michael Allio, who has a 4-year-old son at home, Katie made sure to spend time with him at the cocktail party first since he wasn't included in any of that week's dates. Despite the show's usual impending drama, fans believe The Bachelorette's Katie will stay true to herself and find her happily ever after.
