Carly Waddell and Evan Bass have decided to separate after three years of marriage. This comes as a surprise, as the couple shares two children together.

Carly, 35, met Evan, 38, on Bachelor in Paradise in 2016. She was not smitten by him at first, even though Evan was very interested in her. Eventually, though, Carly came around to Evan and they were engaged by the end of the season. It was a relationship that surprised Bachelor viewers, but one that many fans were rooting for because they seemed like two genuinely good people. Evan first appeared on Chris Soules' season of The Bachelor. Carly was also on another season of Bachelor in Paradise before meeting Evan. There, she suffered a painful heartbreak when Kirk DeWindt suddenly decided he couldn't see a future with Carly. Evan has three sons, Nathan, Liam and Ensley, from a previous marriage, and he and Carly have since had two more. Bella is 2 and Charlie is just over a year old.

In a t statement with People, Carly and Evan shared, "We have made the difficult decision to separate," the former couple said in a t statement. "We will always cherish our time together and continue to have the utmost respect for one another as we focus on what's best for the future of our family." They added, "We greatly appreciate everyone's love and and kindly ask that you please respect our family’s privacy as we navigate through this."

Evan announced he was getting a vasectomy after their second baby together. In an Instagram story, Carly explained why Evan was getting the procedure so young. “The reason Evan is getting the procedure is because we did pull out and pray twice ever, and now we have two kids." The two had joked on a podcast earlier this year that they didn't think they'd make it as a couple if there was a third child. Evan recently shared on his Instagram story with a picture of his five children with the caption "My loves." Carly is absent from the photo.

This news will be heartbreaking for many in Bachelor Nation, especially seeing how far the couple has come in such a short amount of time. They had an interesting start to their relationship, but Carly was able to give Evan a chance and see where it goes. While she may not have regrets, she seems ready to move on now.
