Journeying across the opening region of Dawnshore in Avowed, defeating Cosmina can grant you a reward to aid you at the start of your playthrough. If you find this keen warrior at the top of Magran's Assay, she will give you the chance to test your skills against her. Getting a free weapon as you begin to build your collection is a win-win.

Fitting the game's theme of choices, like picking the best character background, you will get to choose your type of reward from Cosmina. On the other hand, you won't know exactly what weapon you'll get in the category you select until you have it. You only get one pick, so you won't get the chance to swap.

Every Reward For Beating Cosmina

A Weapon Of Your Choice

For defeating Cosmina in Avowed, you will get to choose between a Common Great Hammer, Common Arquebus, Common Spear, and a Common Wand as your reward. Before you pick, Cosmina will only refer to these as a general "hammer," "arquebus," "spear," and "wand" respectively, but those mentioned earlier are the exact versions you can get from her with varying levels of damage and other stats. Their exact stats are as follows:

The arquebus is the best weapon reward to pick in general, as a great hammer, spear, and wand were available in the tutorial level.

These are nowhere near the best weapons in the game. Nevertheless, they're good options if you don't have a weapon of each type yet. As for which one to pick, you should select whichever weapon you're currently missing to complete the variety of weapon loadouts you can use.

How To Beat Cosmina

An Easy Effort

Even among early-game enemies in Avowed, I found that Cosmina is easy enough to beat that she doesn't even qualify as a mini-boss. She makes use of a great axe for powerful swings, but I found she's incredibly slow. To beat her, you just need to keep your distance and hit with spells or ranged weapons like a bow or pistol.

With your companions' abilities to use as well, winning against Cosmina is a very simple feat, even if you're fighting against her on Normal difficulty or higher. It's definitely not as hard as some of the tougher quests available in the game. Just to save before you fight Cosmina in case you want to select a different weapon reward to use in your Avowed playthrough, since you won't be able to fight her a second time.
