Warning! Spoilers for Avengers #56 by Marvel Comics
The Council of Red is attempting to control Marvel's Multiverse, but in every reality, there's one Jane Foster. In Avengers #56 by Marvel Comics, three Mephistos try to trap Jane Foster inside an illusion, but when she teams up with a variant of herself as Thor, they manage to take down the villains. However, as the Mephistos are defeated, they reveal that Jane Foster is one Avengers hero they've never managed to break.
The Avengers are facing off against Mephisto and one of their most dangerous threats ever, as the fiery villain from Earth-616 has assembled the Multiversal Masters of Evil. The team, composed of some of the deadliest super villains from across the Multiverse, isn't even the only problem Mephisto has conjured up as Marvel's devil has formed the Council of Red. The group of hundreds of Mephisto variants from different realities has come together to defeat the Avengers once and for all. In the group's latest attack against Jane Foster, however, they reveal breaking the hero in any reality is next to impossible.
In Avengers #56 by Jason Aaron, Javier Garron, David Curiel, and VC's Cory Petit from Marvel Comics, Jane Foster finds herself in a new life alongside Thor on Asgard, as somehow, she's become a housewife for the hero. However, despite being forced to believe that reality is what she wants, Foster discovers the entire world is an illusion by Mephisto. Once she breaks free of the spell and teams up with a Mighty Thor from across the Multiverse, the duo takes down the three Mephistos from the Council of Red. However, as they are defeated, one Mephisto tells another that the "Janes are always the worst! Told you we'd never break one!"
The comment might seem like a throwaway line, but it actually proves that Mephisto has one Avengers hero he can never defeat in Jane Foster. Foster's strength and smarts make her a tough out for any villain, but for Mephisto, no matter what illusion or trap he's set up across the Multiverse, he's never been able to break the Mighty Thor or the current Valkyrie. Although the issue does hint Jane misses being Thor and using Mjolnir, which could create future conflict.
Jane Foster might be a recent addition to the Avengers, but with the Mephistos openly itting they've never been able to defeat or break the hero in any reality, the former Mighty Thor might be one of the greatest weapons Earth's Mightiest Heroes have in taking down the Council of Red. No Mephisto can break Jane Foster, as they are shown failing in their latest illusion attempt, meaning she will more than likely be key in stopping the villains alongside the Avengers once and for all.
