Marvel Cinematic Universe, collectively known as the Infinity Saga, focused on Thanos’ quest to acquire the Infinity Stones and the Infinity Gauntlet in order to fulfill his plans of bringing balance to the universe by wiping out half of life in the universe – and he finally got what he wanted in Avengers: Infinity War.

Thanos got the stones and the gauntlet in Avengers: Infinity War but not without having to fight most of the active MCU heroes, but in the end, he made half of the universe vanish with the snap of his fingers. Captain America: Civil War.

Avengers: Endgame not only brought Hawkeye back for the biggest mission and battle the MCU has seen so far, but it also addressed what happened to him after the events of Civil War. Endgame opens with the Bartons at their farmhouse, having a family picnic, and it’s soon revealed that the scene is happening at the same time as the Battle of Wakanda, where Thor came close to killing Thanos, but the Mad Titan still managed to snap his fingers. As Clint turned to talk to his daughter, he realized she had vanished, as did his wife Laura (Linda Cardellini) and his sons. This scene was key to Endgame, as confirmed in Marvel Assembled: The Making of Hawkeye, as it did more than helping the audience catch up with Hawkeye.

The loss of his family led Clint to become Ronin and go on a path of vengeance against all criminals who survived Thanos’ snap. As his transformation into Ronin and his return as an Avenger, as well as his efforts to confront his dark past in Hawkeye.

The scene of Clint Barton’s family vanishing in front of him as a result of Thanos’ snap in Avengers: Endgame is more important than originally thought, and the producers at Marvel Studios are aware that Endgame wouldn’t have worked as well as it did without it. Hawkeye’s tragedy added a layer of emotion and humanity to the snap and everything that came after it, and was a turning point in his story.
