Chris Evan repeatedly jokes about the possibility that Steve Rogers/Captain America might die in wiped out half of the universe.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Endgame's plot is tightly under wraps with Disney running an full Avengers: Endgame trailer emphasized, they'll take down Thanos "whatever it takes," meaning if Cap gets a shot at defeating the villain and avenging the world, he'll undoubtedly take it, even if that means he'll die.

While his fans are anxiously waiting to learn about his fate in Endgame, Evans is taking the whole situation rather lightly. Speaking with THR, the actor repeatedly joked about Cap dying. itting to having seen the first hour of the movie, he jokingly told the outlet that he dies "by Tony's hand." Toward the end of the interview, as he showers the film with compliments, he revealed he "choked up like three times,"  and the interviewer asked if it was because of seeing Steve's death play out on the big screen. "It's hard. Seeing my own death. It's going to be a long movie, that's for sure. The first edit clocked in over three hours. My funeral's like an hour," he joked in response.

Captain America In Avengers Endgame

It's hard to gauge Cap's fate based on Evans' remarks. Over the last few months, there have been conflicting reports about his Marvel stint. His contract finishes with Endgame, plus he sent out an Marvel Studios producing a slew of TV shows for Disney Plus, there's definitely other avenues that Evans can continue being involved with his superhero character or the MCU as a whole.

That said, it's difficult to dismiss the possibility that Cap will survive the events of Avengers: Endgame. Marvel Studios needs to have stakes in the Phase 3 capper to make this whole arc all worthwhile, otherwise, it will feel like a cop-out. And the only way to do that is actually see genuine losses in the MCU. Feige did say that the film will be the final chapter for some, if not all founding heroes of the franchise. Aside from Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Cap's death is arguably the one that would have the biggest impact in the franchise.
