After watching Thunderbolts*, I am almost certain that Thunderbolts* post-credit scene showcasing the team's bond 14 months after the film's main story.
Above any other story of Avengers: Doomsday, which will see various aspects of the MCU multiverse come together to face off against Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom. Thanks to these aforementioned elements of Thunderbolts* and what they set up for the franchise's future, I am convinced that Avengers: Doomsday will incorporate elements of the best MCU Phase 3 movies.
Avengers: Doomsday Is Shaping Up To Be A Mix Of Captain America: Civil War & Avengers: Infinity War
Once Again Directed By The Russo Brothers
Given what was revealed in Thunderbolts*, I am expecting Avengers: Doomsday to be a blend of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. Beginning with the former, Captain America: Civil War fractured the Avengers of Phase 3 by pitting Captain America and Iron Man against each other, thus splitting the Avengers into two separate teams. As Thunderbolts* end-credit scene seems to imply, this will also be the case for Avengers: Doomsday; Sam Wilson has his Avengers, while the Thunderbolts formed the New Avengers, causing friction between the two teams of heroes.
This sets up an Avengers: Infinity War-style story for Avengers: Doomsday. The former film primarily features three sets of teams battling against Thanos' forces: Iron Man and some Earthbound Avengers in space, Captain America and the exiled Avengers uniting with the Wakandans, and the space-based Guardians of the Galaxy teaming up with Thor. In Avengers: Doomsday, it seems a similar format will be used with the New Avengers and Sam Wilson's Avengers battling Doom, while The Fantastic Four serves as a space-based tertiary team.
It Makes Sense For The Russo Brothers To Setup Avengers: Doomsday This Way After Thunderbolts*
This Story Format Is Logical
For many reasons, it makes a lot of sense for the returning Russo Brothers to format Avengers: Doomsday this way. On a base level, the Russos clearly know how to adequately tell stories about feuding factions of the same team before bringing them together to fight a greater foe, as they proved with two of the best-ranked MCU movies, Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. Therefore, Avengers: Doomsday will feel somewhat familiar to the Russos as filmmakers, while also conveying that same sense of familiarity to audiences as they are seeing a story format they have watched before.
As proven by Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, seeing the characters team up, reconcile, and fight together after the low point of Captain America: Civil War and its repercussions proved incredibly exciting...
Then there are the benefits that this format will have on Avengers: Doomsday's story and characters. As proven by Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, seeing the characters team up, reconcile, and fight together after the low point of Captain America: Civil War and its repercussions proved incredibly exciting and emotionally moving. If the same excitement and emotion can be packed into Avengers: Doomsday, the recurring format makes a lot of sense regarding making the film an unforgettable cinematic experience.
Avengers: Doomsday's Cast Has An Ace Up Its Sleeve
To Make It More Than Just Another Rehash
However, this is not to say that Avengers: Doomsday will simply be a rehash of past MCU movies. For one, the concept of the multiverse adds a lot of room for exploration beyond what was possible in the MCU's Phase 3. Beyond even that, the reveals of Avengers: Doomsday's cast list included a wildcard.

Avengers: Doomsday Cast Announced - Here's Every Marvel Actor Confirmed To Appear
Marvel Studios announces the official cast of Avengers: Doomsday as filming on the 2026 Marvel Cinematic Universe movie begins.
That wildcard was the inclusion of the heroes from the X-Men movie timeline. Avengers: Doomsday looks set to replicate Avengers: Infinity War by having two feuding sets of Avengers and a space-based team, but the former has the X-Men and any other multiversal elements added to it. This will give Avengers: Doomsday a much more unique feeling rather than rendering it a mere copy of Avengers: Infinity War, no matter how heavily Thunderbolts* sets up a similar format to the 2018 film.
