Nightcrawler actor Alan Cumming shares an update on his action scenes alongside his fellow X-Men actors in Fox's original X-Men trilogy. Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Kelsey Grammer, Rebecca Romjin, and Alan Cumming will return in their X-Men roles, and Channing Tatum's Gambit will them on screen for the first time. Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool haven't been confirmed to return, but they probably will the fight in Avengers: Secret Wars.

In an interview with The Telegraph, X-Men star Alan Cumming reveals he has been doing his own stunts on the set of Avengers: Doomsday. Cumming says the stunt team is "gobsmacked" by the actor's flexibility and physique. Twenty-three years before Alan Cumming's return in Avengers: Doomsday, the actor first played Kurt Wagner a.k.a. Nightcrawler in X2. Read Alan Cumming's comments below:

“I’ve been doing stunts the past couple of days, I’m pretty fit. The stunt boys I’m working with, who could easily be my children, are all gobsmacked I can even walk. They’re like, ‘Are you OK? You’re really limber.’ When I told them I was 60, they were like, ‘What?!’”

What Alan Cumming's Stunt Comments Mean For Avengers: Doomsday

Avengers: Doomsday Will Put The Spotlight Back On The X-Men

Avengers: Doomsday will feature dozens of famous Marvel characters, both from the MCU's main timeline and from other universes those introduced in the X-Men movies and The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The reason why all these characters will meet each other and face Doctor Doom is unknown, but such a huge crossover certainly offers lots of possibilities for action scenes where heroes fight each other and team up to fight Doom together. These fight sequences, in turn, offer every hero the chance to show off their unique abilities and superpowers.

While I'm excited to see some of my favorite classic X-Men actors return in Avengers: Doomsday, I think it could create a really weird MCU problem.

Alan Cumming's Nightcrawler stole the show in X2: X-Men United, where his attack on the White House set the bar high for superhero action scenes in the early two thousands. Unfortunately, Alan Cumming's Nightcrawler couldn't return in X-Men: The Last Stand, but his superhuman agility, speed, and teleportation powers made him a standout mutant in the X-Men franchise despite his limited screentime. Avengers: Doomsday will give Alan Cumming's Nightcrawler more time to flaunt his mutant powers alongside other X-Men and other non-mutant heroes.

Avengers: Doomsday will be the first time the Avengers and the X-Men will be able to fight each other and fight together on the big screen. Distinctive mutant powers like Nightcrawler's teleportation, Cyclops' eye beams, and Mystique's shapeshifting will finally be able to pair up with special abilities like Reed Richards' super-stretching and Loki's magic. Certainly, Avengers: Doomsday's cast can build upon the level of spectacle established by Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
