About Josef Rodriguez

Josef Rodriguez is a writer, filmmaker, and musician from New York City who has always loved movies more than anything in the world. He's been writing online for more than a decade, starting at an independent outlet called Grizzly Bomb as a teenager before writing for publications like Latina, Mitú, Desde Hollywood, and GEEK Magazine. He has also interviewed a number of artists in the film industry including Robert Rodriguez, Alfonso Herrera, and Anthony Ramos. In fact, he interviewed Anthony Ramos twice, who called him "mustache man" during their second interview.

He loves the films of Yasujiro Ozu, Fritz Lang, and Harmony Korine but is just as happy watching the Fast & Furious movies or Bad Boys II. Let's face it, those movies are awesome. When he's not writing, Josef works on his music, pets his cats, and tries to direct anything he can...except traffic. In addition to Screen Rant, you can also find Josef on Letterboxd, but don't hold any of his hot takes against him.

Favorite Media

Josef's favorite movies are Late Spring, Casablanca, Annie Hall, Spring Breakers. The Shining, There Will Be Blood, Sleepaway Camp, The ion of Joan of Arc, Scarlet Street, and Red River. His favorite book is Madame Bovary and his favorite musician is Frank Ocean.

Industry Focus

Josef is most interested in independent film, horror, and generally anything weird or on the fringes of pop culture. But don't worry, he's not a snob! As much as he loves the oddballs, he also loves the Fast & Furious movies, Christopher Nolan, Steven Spielberg, and even Michael Bay. Josef believes that no genre of movie is better than the other. If it's good, it's good! Whether it's a character-driven indie drama or a loud, colorful monster movie where things go boom, Josef loves it all.
