Here's everything we know so far about various shows that make up the Arrowverse and where they stand heading into the Spring 2021 season. With production delays wrought by the COVID-19 pandemic affecting film and television productions around the world for several months, coupled with a number of notable firings and resignations, there is good reason for fans to be unclear on which shows have started production and when they will begin airing new episodes again.
2020 opened on a high note, with the Crisis on Infinite Earths event coming to a close and promising a golden age of superhero television. The Arrowverse - the shared reality made up all the superhero shows on The CW - was revealed to encom every television series and film ever based on a DC Comics' property. The final chapter of Crisis established every DC Comics show still in production as part of a new Arrowverse, including the shows then being produced for the DC Universe streaming service. (All of those series, with the exception of Stargirl, are now being produced for HBO Max.) Unfortunately, pandemic-related production delays forced Batwoman, The Flash and Supergirl to cut their seasons short and alter their season finales. The Arrowverse also faced some series shake-ups, with Ruby Rose deciding to leave Batwoman after a single season playing Kate Kane and Melissa Benoist electing not to renew her contract, ending Supergirl after its sixth season.
As of last week, the Arrowverse seemed to be rebounding, with filming having started or about to start again on most of its series. Unfortunately, production has slowed again thanks to there being only one medical lab in Vancouver capable of running COVID-19 tests and priority going to local schools and businesses over the entertainment industry. This has slowed the rate at which filming can continue, raising some concerns about whether those shows intended to return in early 2021 will be able to do so. Here is a rundown on everything that is known about the various Arrowverse shows heading into 2021.
