What has Zack Snyder said about the time loop theory of dead pixels.

The theory partly stems from a dialogue exchange between Vanderohe and Dieter as the duo reaches the locked vault the team has been tasked with breaking open. Dieter sees a collection of skeletons on the floor, leading Vanderohe to opine that they're in the latest iteration of a time loop. With fans latching onto a few other crumbs for the time loop theory here and there in the film, such as plans left at a table of a prior attempted heist the team comes across, all eyes have turned towards Snyder's thoughts on the matter.

While Snyder has largely remained coy on the time loop theory, he has given a handful of comments in interviews. One came during an interview on The Film Junkee, with Snyder referencing the aforementioned failed first heist and stating "The group at the table, I mean, it’s pretty subtle, but that’s them also at the table as well as, they get farther every time. Is this the time they made it all the way to the money?”. Despite these comments, Snyder nevertheless refrained from outright confirming the time loop theory, prefacing his remarks with "I’m not saying this is 100% true, and in some ways, it’s not". While there looks to be something to run with here, these weren't Snyder's last words on the topic.

Snyder, who peppered the film with references to Greek mythology, later offered some even less-veiled comments during an interview with Netflix's Geeked, saying "There’s a lot of clues in the movie that would that theory", and specifically pointed to the skeletons in the vault sequence. Snyder pointed out that "You see a shot of one of our characters, and they happen to be wearing like the same necklace", while also referring to the plans spotted of the previous heist that failed, saying "If you notice, the dead guys around that table are them again". At the same time, Snyder held off from definitively confirming the time loop theory, leading into his statement with "And, um, it might be true. Who knows?", and concluded with "So if you wanna play that game, it’s there to play".

While Snyder has mostly kept to the side on the time loop conversation of Army of the Dead, the comments he has made do seem to indicate that there's something to the theory amid other unanswered questions, such as the Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas prequels on the way, fans could have more to examine in the context of the time loop theory as Army of the Dead's burgeoning franchise continues to unfold.
