This May, the publisher will release Archie Comics: Judgment Day #1, the first in a three-issue miniseries under the Archie Horror brand. The story comes from Aubrey Sitterson with art by Megan Hutchison, colors by Matt Herms, and letters by Jack Morelli.

Ever since Afterlife with Archie and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina reinvigorated life into the nearly century-old franchise, Archie Comics has taken their characters and placed them in different settings such as slashers or supernatural horror. Jughead: The Hunger, Vampironica, Blossoms 666, and dozens of Chilling Adventures Presents... one-shots have all put Archie fans' favorite characters in dangerous and deadly scenarios. But the Archie Horror brand has only gotten more popular over time with every new twisted tale released.

Archie Comics: Judgment Day #1 is the publisher's first comic to be labeled an "Archie Event", epic stories too big to be contained to a mere one-shot release. Preview art released by the publisher shows just how wild this story is going to be as Archie confronts the malevolent forces that are consuming his town. Stories released under the Archie Horror brand haven't shied away from disturbing things such as body horror or death. But by Archie Comics' ission, Judgment Day promises to be the most intense story Archie has ever been a part of.
