Apple just concluded the Far Out launch event, announcing the newest addition to the Apple Watch lineup, the Apple Watch Ultra. As the name suggests, the Watch Ultra is by far the largest, most durable, and at the same time, the most expensive Apple Watch. With the Watch Ultra, Apple targets performance athletes, water sports professionals, and other s who would use the watch in extreme environmental conditions.
Along with the Apple Watch Ultra, the company also announced the regular Apple Watch Series 8 with new features such as advanced women's cycle tracking, crash detection, and a new body temperature sensor. Last but not least, Apple Watch SE 2 also appeared at the Far Out event.
Apple Watch Ultra Features An Advanced GPS System
While all these updates make the Apple Watch Ultra an ideal smartwatch for the outdoorsy, there is more to it. For instance, Apple has baked in a night mode that increases visibility in poorly lit surroundings and a new dual-frequency GPS that uses both L1 and L5 satellites to provide the most precise position on an Apple Watch. Additionally, the company has redesigned its com app with new features that help s figure out waypoints and retrace their steps to a marked location. The Watch Ultra also comes with a new Action button that is programmable and, later this year, will also be able to detect when s arrive at a running track.
For those who love water sports such as surfing or scuba diving, the Apple Watch Ultra is water-resistant up to 100 meters and EN13319 certified to diving accessories. In addition, Apple Watch Ultra comes with three new bands, including the Alpine Loop, Ocean and Trail Loop. These bands offer an excellent fit with increased elasticity and are designed to accompany the Watch Ultra on adventurous expeditions. While interested customers can pre-order the $799 Apple Watch Ultra today, it will release on Sept. 23, 2022.
