Apple's manufacturing partners Foxconn and Luxshare have reportedly started trial production of the iPhone 14. As part of the process, the companies are looking to build a limited number of units to iron out any remaining issues before proceeding with mass production. The report comes from Taiwanese publication United Daily News, which also claims that Luxshare will manufacture the base iPhone 14, while the two 'Pro' models, the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max, will be built by Foxconn. There's no other news regarding the lineup itself, but like every year, further information about the devices will likely get leaked in the run-up to the launch.

Trial production for iPhones generally starts in the second half of February, so the timeline is on schedule this time around as well. However, whether there will be any issues due to the ongoing ship shortage remains to be seen. According to the report, once the trial stage is complete, the vendors are expected to share the bill of materials (BoM) with Apple and perform all the quality checks to ensure that everything is in order for mass production. It also means that the product's final design has been locked in and is unlikely to change, barring something unforeseen.

According to rumors, the iPhone 14 lineup will include a 6.1-inch iPhone 14, a 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max and a 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max. In of design, Apple is expected to get rid of the notch in some of the models. Instead, the devices will reportedly powered by the A16 Bionic chip, built on either a three or four-nanometer process for faster performance and higher power efficiency.
