the regular iPhone 14 and the new iPhone 14 Max still have a notch identical to the iPhone 13. Nevertheless, Apple offers the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max in five elegant finishes, including Blue, Purple, Midnight, Starlight and Product (Red).
Before the iPhone 14 lineup came out, there were rumors about Apple's willingness to place the Pro and the non-Pro models differently. However, from what it looks like, the Cupertino-based tech giant has gone too far in its ambition, as the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Plus have received minimal updates over the regular iPhone 13 and the discontinued iPhone 13 mini.
While the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Max borrow many of their abilities from the iPhone 13 series, the TrueDepth camera system that enabled Face ID. However, as soon as the iPhones have something to show, the software expands its notch into a notification bar that allows "s easier access to controls with a simple tap-and-hold" mechanism. In simple words, the new notch on the iPhone 14 Pro models is both fun and valuable at the same time.
The New Notch Comes After Five Years
Dynamic Island is a giant leap for the iPhones as this is the first time in five years that Apple has come up with an entirely new design for the notch. The first time s saw the iconic notch was in 2017 when iPhone 11 and the iPhone 12, Apple retained its notch. In 2021, the company redesigned the notch to occupy a slightly lesser screen area, and now, it has come up with an innovative way to utilize the notch.
The iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max are the first iPhones to feature an always-on display. When enabled, the feature displays calendar information, weather updates, time and more on the lock screen. Further, Apple equips the Pro models with its latest and the most powerful mobile processor on the market — A16 Bionic. Last but not least, both the Pro models also come with a new 48MP (f/1.78) primary camera with the second generation of sensor-shift optical image stabilization. Both the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max are available to pre-order on Apple's website for $999 and $1099, respectively.
