With the release of Apex Legends: Saviors on the horizon, Screen Rant was given the opportunity to attend a presentation going over all the new features that are awaiting players. For this new season, developer Respawn Entertainment aimed to shake-up the game in some significant ways, the primary being the new additions to the game world. It's not limited to a new environment however, as a new story, character, and more will not only provide current players with new things to explore but will also revamp the experience for first-time and returning players.
The first significant addition to Apex Legends is the mysterious sea monster that lays dead on the beaches of Escape season. This new point of interest serves as a "big, loot stuffed piñata" where players can battle their way into its stomach to retrieve the valuable items that lie in wait. Over the course of the Saviors season, the mystery behind the "Downed Beast" will unfold and there are sure to be plenty of clues for players to piece together as time goes on. The devs revealed that Storm Point has been specifically built to be an additive area, so there may be even more surprises in store.
The other huge addition to Apex Legends: Saviors is the IMC Armories. These armories are relics from the Frontier Wars that were brought back to the surface during the sea monster's attack. IMC Armories are filled with powerful weapons and upgrades as part of a "smart loot system," but that power comes with a cost. To further increase ' stressful gameplay, the armory doors with close and trap players within, where they are left to survive for 60 seconds against multiple waves of automated enemies - thankfully, the closed doors will prevent any third parties from interfering.
Some other additions include a change in nest locations around the map, further refining of the PvE elements of Apex Legends such as the Bloodhound trials and wildlife encounters. Additionally, a focus was put on improving Ranked gameplay both in pacing and the overall meta. Part of this balancing will come with Newcastle, Savior's new legend, though the specifics of his role in the meta is yet to be announced. Overall, Apex Legends: Saviors is a significant addition to one of the most talked about battle royales that is likely to play a major role in the game's future trajectory.
Apex Legends: Saviors will release May 10, 2022 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Screen Rant was provided access to a preview presentation for the purpose of this preview.
