Even years later, Animal Crossing: New Horizons just keeps surprising its players with some of the most interesting situations ever imagined. Whether it's from people discovering new uses for interactive items, making beautiful custom designs, or simply coming across a silly piece of dialogue from a villager, it seems that ACNH is the game that just keeps giving. The relaxing island getaway has offered players a safe and cozy virtual home throughout the pandemic and countless personal trials in the lives of its players. On some rare occasions, however, it isn't quite the idyllic vacation that it is designed to be.
For Reddit , Lord-Mankey, this cozy island experience quickly became a dark and grisly murder scene thanks to a glitch in the game that caused the poor rabbit villager, O'Hare, to become impaled on a beach umbrella.
Finding their NPC neighbor O'Hare impaled on a beach umbrella in this peaceful space would certainly be a shock to anyone. Thankfully, O'Hare survived the difficult ordeal, which was caused by the game having a minor glitch with placing the villager on the chair in the middle rather than to the left or right.
Animal Crossing New Horizons Villager Seems A Bit... Stuck
O'Hare Doesn't Seem To Be Relaxing Much On This Island
O'Hare must have thought a nap on the beach under an umbrella would be much more peaceful than it turned out to be. Though the actual event of his massacre was not witnessed, the aftermath brought a gasp and likely a moment of panic. The player, Lord-Mankey, was simply taking a stroll when they stumbled across the scene and quickly removed the murderous furniture to prevent this situation from occurring again.
Comments on the thread ranged from accusations of the often distrusted Easter Bunny, Zipper, having caused the scene to the above comment from astudyinamber who perfectly references Frozen's Olaf having a casual reaction to becoming impaled. IamaJarJar commented that it was a murder and stated the murderer must be found, leading to a thread of responses from others.
Our Players Never Know What To Expect In Animal Crossing
ACNH Keeps Players On Their Toes With Surprises
Over the years, players have found some truly terrifying glitches in their Animal Crossing: New Horizons islands. From situations where the things that some players stumble across which are not glitches, but equally scary, such as haunted fake artwork and an alien message on the television during the night.
While I am grateful that I have not had the shock of finding one of my beloved ACNH villagers murdered on the beach of my cozy, safe island, it does make for a funny situation after knowing that everything turned out okay.
Lord-Mankey must have initially been a bit panicky and shocked, but thankfully they quickly recovered their composure enough to take the screenshot with their character looking away with their eyes closed, respectfully, and share the image with Reddit. Despite accusations against Zipper and other characters, it does appear that the entire situation was ultimately an innocent accident in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and the case is now closed.
