How New Horizons Lets You Interact With Villagers
The core gameplay loop of New Horizons is the same as past games in the series; collect resources, craft items and places of interest, and interact with your fellow villagers (or castaways in this case). In New Horizons players start with two villagers, but more will move in as the island is upgraded and expanded. Interactions with villagers mostly consist of building things for them, or returning lost items. By finding items and returning them to their rightful owners, players can get rewarded with new clothing items or objects. When new villagers want to move in, players need to build specific furniture for them. These systems might seem basically the same as past games, but villagers have a bit more variation in their interactions and actions this time around.
On top of these basic interactions, players earn Nook Miles, the game's main currency, by befriending and getting to know their villagers. Villagers will celebrate with players for each holiday, whenever a new building is finished, and even throw a surprise party on their birthday. There's a wide array of different villagers out there, but Animal Crossing: New Horizons manages to make each one feel unique.
