Ryan Reynolds’ video game-inspired movie Free Guy was an instant hit when it was released in theaters in August 2021. At the end of February of 2022, the video game movie became available for streaming. Jodie Comer, Joe Keery, and Lil Rel Howery star alongside Reynolds in the Shawn Levy-directed action-comedy.
There are also several amazing actors in ing roles as well as cameos from the world’s biggest streamers. Viewers may recognize these people from YouTube and Twitch, playing their favorite games online for everyone to see. The inclusion of these five gaming experts makes the film more authentic and thrilling.
Sean McLoughlin - Jacksepticeye
There were several amazing cameos in Free Guy, and Sean McLoughlin, better known as Jacksepticeye, was one of them. Sean is a longtime YouTube creator and streamer from Ireland. He currently has 28.2M subscribers on YouTube and 3M followers on Twitch, a popular social site used for streaming. In his videos, Sean often plays trending games and reacts to memes. Lately, he can be seen playing Elden Ring and Bloodbourne.
Free Guy may be Sean’s first role in a feature-length film, but he has offered his voice to several video games, such as Pinstripe, Monster Prom, and Chivalry 2. He has directed and starred in a couple of short films as well as started a coffee business, Top of the Mornin. In a YouTube video addressing Free Guy, Sean discusses how he worried about what his friends might think but says “as long as [Ryan and Shawn are] happy with what I did, I know that I’ve done myself proud.”
Tyler Blevins - Ninja
Tyler Blevins, also known as Ninja, has made a name for himself streaming his gameplay on Twitch. He has 18M followers on the platform as well as a few YouTube channels that don’t list the subscriber count. His videos on YouTube tend to consist of Blevins reacting to video game news and playing a lot of Fortnite. On Twitch, he plays and streams several games including Apex Legends, Fortnite, and Elden Ring.
Before he was world-famous, Ninja got started playing video games competitively. Over time, he’s become one of the greatest streamers out there. His fame has given him a lot of amazing opportunities. For instance, people tend to forget he appeared on The Masked Singer as an ice cream cone and lent his voice to Hotel Transylvania 4 and Fortnite: Chapter 2. When discussing the opportunity to appear in Free Guy with Beyond The Trailer, he says “Straight up, we got lucky. They were really authentic, trying to make the best gaming movie possible.”
Imane Anys - Pokimane
Pokimane, real name Imane Anys, frequently streams and posts content on YouTube and Twitch. Her YouTube content consists of challenges, reactions, gameplay from popular games such as Fortnite and Among Us, and just plain sitting and chatting with her subscribers - all 6.7M of them. On Twitch, she has 9M followers who watch her Fortnite and Valorant streams.
In 2017, Pokimane was named the Best Streamer Of The Year at the Shorty Awards and she was recently recognized as a Legacy Streamer at the 2022 Streamer Awards. She started streaming with League of Legends and grew an audience from there. She expresses gratitude for the Free Guy team for allowing her this opportunity. She tells Collider, “It was an instant yes. I mean honestly, if my agent ever came to me with a deal like that and it was a prank, I’d probably be a little heartbroken.”
Lannan Eacott - Lazarbeam
Famous streamer from Australia, Lazarbeam has a fair following on his channels. Today, his YouTube sub count is at 19.9M and his Twitch follower count is at 232K. His YouTube content mainly consists of challenges, the meme olympics, reactions, and gameplay with Roblox and Fortnite. In recent months, Eacott has taken a break from Twitch and fans are unsure when he’ll return.
Lazarbeam started streaming with Madden NFL 2016. He has gone on to produce much more content, including a YouTube Red show titled Lazer Team. Eacott expresses gratitude for being asked to Free Guy in his interview with Free Guy was more accurate with its gaming references than other video game movies. It didn’t change his perspective on gaming and NPCs. He does say, however, “It definitely makes you think, you know. Especially if Karma exists, you’d sure hope [NPCs aren’t] real.”
Daniel Middleton - Dan TDM
Daniel Middleton, known as Dan TDM, is a British YouTuber and Streamer known for his Minecraft content. He hasn’t been active on Twitch in a while but has 2M followers nonetheless. He has 26.1M subscribers on YouTube where he posts a few times a month. His videos often center around Minecraft, scary games, reacting to games, and short animations.
Middleton has lent his voice to Hollywood before in projects such as Free Guy was like behind the scenes, likening it to the filming of his own content, “It’s interesting because it’s kind of what we do almost every day anyway.”
