All-Star Superman was created by Morrison and Quitely as part of DC’s All-Star line. Set in its own continuity, the series follows Superman, who discovers that he’s dying after absorbing an incredible amount of solar radiation. With time running out, Superman embarks on a quest to complete twelve labors to increase the quality of life for everyone before he succumbs to his fate. It’s a story that’s widely regarded as one of the best modern Superman comics and has inspired an entire generation of creators. James Gunn even cited the comic as a major influence on his Superman reboot.

It’s no surprise that DC Comics is bringing this iconic story back. DC has really been pushing audio adaptations lately, most recently with DC High Volume: Batman’s adaptations of storylines such as Batman: Year One and The Long Halloween. But aside from that, All-Star Superman is getting this treatment because it’s still the Summer of Superman, and DC is firing on all cylinders to promote its iconic character ahead of his new cinematic adventure. Whether one has read All-Star Superman dozens of times or never at all, this audiobook is coming out at the perfect time for all audiences.

And with the film likely to get thousands of people interested in the Man of Steel, it only makes good sense to make sure his best story is heard by all. By the time the movie comes out, this audiobook will be waiting to show fans what else is special about Superman.
